Review: Rooter Man came to my home to unclog a drainage pipe problem. We have a septic system and the pipe leading to the system had a clog. Rooter man stuck a snake device into the toilet and seriously scratched the bowl. He was unable to snake the device down far enough, so removed the toilet. He eventually retrieved a bunch of toilet wipes in the pipe. He said that now the pipe was cleared. We paid him $350 cash.

The next day, the finished basement w/ a wall to wall carpet, had a lot of water in it which had spilled over from the basement toilet. We then had the septic co. come and clean out the septic tank which we thought was full. However, the septic tank was not full. This co. then cleared the same pipe out retrieving more toilet wipes. We paid this co. $200.

I called Rooter Man, but he stated that he had cleared the pipe and the second clogging had nothing to do with the first.

Now we are ripping the carpet up as there is so much water damage we will have to replace it. Yet adding more cost to this job.Desired Settlement: At the least, Rooter Man should refund our $350 in cash. In addition, it would be nice for him to partially cover the cost of new flooring.

Thank you.

First of all, I am sorry [redacted] has an issue with Rooter Man's service. We have a very good reputation within the industry and with our customers. We were called by the customer to unclog an upstairs toilet. They were referred to us by a well-respected local master plumber who refers us quite often for rootering/snaking jobs. The customer was asked by our technician if there were any other issues in the house, i.e, were other facilities such sinks, showers or other toilets, specifically on the main floor were slow draining and/or backing up. The customer said no, it was only the upstairs toilet. To this, our technician determined that because no other problems were occurring, then the issue was with the toilet's branch line, not the main line. To [redacted]'s assertion that our technician scratched her toilet. I am sorry but she is mistaken, because no snake was used in the toilet itself. The toilet was removed and th e line was snaked from the flange. The clog was resolved when many wipes were removed from the line. The toilet was re-seated with a new wax seal and re-bolted to the floor. After this, as is his custom, our technician asked the the customer to run the sinks and flush the toilet to make certain that the clog was resolved. The customer agreed it was, paid and tipped the technician. This was on Wednesday. On Sunday, we received a call from [redacted] in which she requested we refund her $200, the amount she paid for another company to come in on Friday and snake her main line. She was asked why she didn't call us back on Friday. For if she had, even though this was a different issue, we would have come over and snaked the line as a courtesy or for a minimal charge. She said, she wasn't home and her daughter called someone else. Again, I am sorry for [redacted]'s issue with us but I believe the customer's issue was resolved and that if she had reached out to us, we would have serviced the main line either for free or for a minimal charge, depending on how much time was required.
