3-14-2017Response to complaint ID ***Roots was contacted back in April of to help with a hillside in a backyard.I (Hollie) went and met with the homeowners to discuss ideas of how to help retain the soil on thehillside (that is VERY steep) from being sloughed off by local deer coming down
to feed on Arborvitaeplanted behind a four foot retaining wall that was install back in the 70's.The hillside was full of cheat grass and weeds at the time and we discussed plant options and came upwith a plan to install fescue sod to the hillside and remove the source of food for the deer.90% of the hillside was redone in the sod ,except for a small portion on the left side of the wallThehomeowners did not want to do that part (the steepest part of the hillside) so it stayed as is and we ransod as far down to the remaining arborvitaes as we could goI have enclosed photos that I took duringthe job, after the job and those that the homeowner sent to meI have numbered them to show youhow this all unfoldedI have also enclosed out of 155, emails back and forth with the customers.Ursula stated in her complaint that I never was in communication with them.Highlighted you can see the times myself and my workers responded to questions and irrigation mattersby coming outWe fixed and responded to all the calls, texts and emailsYou can also see inJanuary/February we were asked to supply a bid on redoing their failing retaining wallWe did NOTdamage the wall during or work in as she falsely states in her complaint. Then in May of we were requested to do MORE work on the left side of the hill that was left out inthe project of I went out, supplied a bid and they did not want to do it at the time and asked ifthere was any way to bring cost downI even offered to do the job when I had another job push meback, still they passedOur estimates clearly state they are only valid for daysI beg to ask thequestion " If we did such a BAD job the first time, why ask us for more work to be performed?"So during the season of 2016,we did have some calls and emails that never went ignored aboutirrigation tweaks and questionsI supplied the homeowners with a fact sheet on the grass (alsoenclosed) and all fixes were at a no charge, classified under warrantyNEVER once did an issue of sodbeing replaced come up OR wall damage having accrued a TOTAL LIEThere was one area at the top ofthe hillside that started to turn brown from not getting hit by the sprinkler, but we fixed that sprinklerand added another just to have extra coverage (see photo and email) .On August 29th, (see email, photo, before and after) I got an email asking for MORE(again, if we haddone such a bad job and didn't call back or answer emails, why would they want us to do more work?)work to be done, again on the untouched part of the hillside not done the year before, but they hadtaken the Arborvitae and junipers out themselves to cut costsIn doing this the soil being retainedbehind the shrubs sloughed down from under the sod we had laid the season before( see photo sentfrom homeowner of removal they did)I have provided a before picture I took of the area with greengrass growing behind the arborvitae they removed and a photo of the area after they removed thearborvitaeThe after photo they sent to me via email. The homeowners and I went back and forth on setting a time to meet, I did get very sick and was offwork for about a week, and then got an email they wanted to do the job before the winter weather setin, this was around the 20th of SeptemberBuy the time they wanted to pull the trigger I was booked outon contracted jobs till the end of November.( see attached email)This is when all of the sudden, all our work FAILED and they feel they are owed a refund.I did reply to *** email about the fact she was upset that we could not get them on the schedule(see her email) ,in this one she stated she wanted to take me to court, I replied and then got anotheremail with her demands that did not merit any response too.I feel what this all boils down to is the fact they want to put the house on the market and are trying toget work for free by making up statements about my companies performance.Owner/Roots Landscape ***SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS REDACTED BY Revdex.com***

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:Here is the true story ... The pics are showing the areas she said she fixed the watering problems......never fixed, grass died off and now we have bare spots where we have to have more sod put down. This never would have happened if she had responded to emails, calls, and cared about the job she was doing. She certainly didn't have to wait to be paid the $5000.00 she charged   I would like to know where are the replies to the 73 emails that had allot of information in them that shows that we did not get answers to allot of questions, concerns, problems. There were so many texts sent that were never replied to, calls that went to voice mail all the time and never responded to. Many of them were regarding the sod dying off and vanishing in the top right corner (pic attached) . I asked her what she was going to do about that….as usual no reply when there was a problem. .  This was when our investment was burning up and we were desperate for information and help of how to save it…. NO REPLIES  Hollie wonders why she was called back out to do more work…….it was the only way we could get her attention to come back out to see the problem areas. That did no good, she refused to fix when she wouldn’t put us on the schedule to repair the failed areas. Why were we not told that this grass goes dormant in the summer and turns brown, no matter how much water is applied. It stabilized the hill, however its an eye sore and a waste of water to try to keep any of it Green I came across an email today where she states that she doesn’t think putting sod under a pine tree would be good, yet she went ahead and did it anyway and it failed. We are not trying to get "free work" as Hollie A[redacted] states. We are just trying to get what is due to us for part of the job that was not done correctly. A reputable company stands by their work and fixes things that did not go right or failed. All of a sudden she was booked out and couldn’t fit us in to repair the failed sections. Conveniently, she waited until after a year was up so she was not going to honor the year warranty Sadly we are out the sections that failed and have to pay again to have them corrected. ( see attached pics) for failed areas that she was told and begged to fix and would not do anything about, WELL within the year time frame, these issues started very early after the work was so called done. These are areas that she states were corrected, not true, the grass died off and they are now bare or brown patches. Its not done until all is growing, rooted and stable! That’s how reputable companies do things  Again, we don’t expect free work as stated by her, we just expect a company and its owner to do the right thing. Its called Integrity. She is an owner that obviously hasn’t figured that out, probably never will…… This all could have been  corrected with better communication We know that Hollie isn't going to make this right or refund us a single penny, its how she does business, but we are satisfied knowing that’s its filed with the Revdex.com with poor ratings
Sincerely,
