tow to the garage to have us check it outHe was told it was ok to have it towedHe said to check it out and give him a call he would make a decision if he wanted to repaired itOnce the truck was diagnosed we called the phone number that was given to us to let him know that it would not crank over and we would need to put a starter in to see if it would start and cost for the repair would be $plus tax; the women that answer the phone said to go ahead and put the starter inWe called the number back to let him know that it was the starter and the truck was running; the same women answered; she said to go ahead check the truck out for emissions and state inspectionThe truck was checked out for inspection once again we called the numberprovided to give him the estimate for the inspectionThe women answered the phone again and said to goahead and do the emissions and inspectionWhen the work was completed we called and let them know that the truck was ready for pickupThe original gentlemen came in to pay the bill and pick up the truckThe gentleman came back into the garage the next day to pick up his keys driving the truckHe did not say anything about the truck not starting, he did mention that he had black smoke coming out the exhaust and would call when he was ready for a tune up.Our work is guarantee, we honor all our work and partsThere are many things on a truck that can keep it from starting, we fixed the starter which was the initial problem.The gentleman came in to the garage a few days later and told us the truck would not start we told him that the truck would need to be towed to the garage so that we could check it out to see what was going on with it; he never had it towed.Our responsibility is with the starterIf the starter went bad we will replace it and pay the tow bill.Resolution : Have the truck towed to the garage, check it out to see if the starter went badIf we find that the starter isbad we will replace it and pay the tow billIf it is not the starter we will not pay the tow bill

I am rejecting this response because:
I returned an hour or so later to get the trucks keys that THEY left in another customers car,not the next dayThe only way I was able to drive the truck off their lot was because I phoned home for a spare set and had brought to meThey located customer and customer returned them.I went back in to get them and that was the same Friday. Granted..I did pick the truck up on a Friday afternoon and it sat..a day until Sunday morning at which point..it would not startI contacted them first thing Monday morning The vehicle was brought in as they stated...to see why it wouldn't start..if affordable we would see what else was needed to have it inspectedThey said the starter, replaced it and said that was the fix so we said to proceed with other repairsWe wouldn't have gone onto more costs if the initial problem wasn't resolvedAlso we were told the "black smoke" was most likely due to them "propping the choke open" while checking itIt was told to us that the smoke would "burn off and stop".....truck never started to even get to that point after leaving their lot. A simple "We can send a guy up the street to look at it" would have more than sufficed and it might have been something minorWe will never knowThe truck has been sent to a junkyard as we couldn't afford to rack up fines by it sitting in the streetWe have accepted our losses and chalked it up to lessons learned
