Review: On May 2, 2014, I purchased a sleeper sofa and a table. The purchase was made with [redacted], the District Manager. The table that I was inquiring about was no longer on display in the store but after giving a description, [redacted], one of the stores staff was able to locate the table in the stores book. [redacted] informed me at that time that the table was discontinued and that they had 5 left in the warehouse. He further informed me that the table would be considered a special order and if it was not the one that I wanted, he would allow me to return the table and receive all of my money back despite the stores procedure to keep 10% of the item on special orders. [redacted] also informed me that he would order the table as soon as he returned to his hotel room because he did not have access to the system in the store. He also informed me that it would be a possibility that all five tables would be gone by the time he placed the order.The problem I have incurred is that after retrieving the sleeper sofa on Saturday, May 17, 2014, the sofa was too large to get through the door of the room that I had purchased it for. When I called back to the store shortly thereafter to see about returning it or exchanging it, I was informed by [redacted] that the order was a special order and could not be returned or exchanged. I informed [redacted] that the special order only applied to the table and not the sleeper sofa per my conversation with [redacted]. I asked [redacted] for the corporate offices phone number and he stated, They are going to tell you the same thing. So, I asked for a manager and spoke with [redacted] stated he had to call [redacted] and will give me a call back. When [redacted] called back, he stated, [redacted] said from what he could recall of the conversation, the sleeper was a special order also. This is 100% untrue of our conversation which is why reference was made to the sofa only on both of the receipts because that was the only item discussed as a special order. I would never purchase a $600.00 item without having an option to return or exchange it. I purchased the sleeper sofa not as a special order but as a returnable item.I requested copies of both the valid purchase order and the voided purchase order. The voided purchase order was faxed to me by [redacted] on 05/20/2014 and it appeared to have been altered and not all of the information documented by [redacted] was transferred to the valid purchase order. There is information scratched out in the lower right hand corner of the Voided invoice in addition to information being added in a handwriting other than [redacted].Desired Settlement: I would like to exchange the item for something providing I can find another item that I like. If not, I would like a refund.
