Roseville Meat Company Reviews (1)

Review: I has a 65 pound lamb delivered to them for butchering. They said my lamb was 48 pounds and only gave me 32 pounds of meat. When I asked why there was such a discrepancy they blew me off and were rude. I believe they lied to cover giving me the wrong lamb. They would not even offer me any assistance. I am very disappointed. Desired Settlement: I would like my lamb. But I don't think they have it. A refund of my butcher fee would make me slightly happier.

Consumer

Response:

I reviewed my receipt and it indicates that there was 16 pounds of waste (this is a lot). I opened one of the stew meats and it was mostly bone. If I had 16 pounds of waste, why is there any bone in the stew meat?

Business

Response:

We received 3 lambs from two owners the day received the lamb for the customer in question. The lambs were marked by the ranch slaughterer as to which customer owned which lamb. We rely on the accurate labeling by the slaughterer and processed the lambs according to the instructions provided by the complainant. None of the owners visited the store prior to processing to confirm the identity of the lambs. Only when the processing was completed was there a question of the ownership of the particular lambs.

The owner of the 2 lambs, including the one in question, paid for the processing, not the customer that picked up the lamb in question. What she paid the owner of the lamb is something we haven't been made aware of. The customer publicly stated out loud she thought myself, the owner of the business was lying to her. Our business has been processing livestock for over 36 years and take pride in what we do and how we handle the items sent in for processing. But we can only assign ownership of the animals based on the tags on the animals when we receive them. Customers are welcome to be present when their animals are delivered to confirm their ownership and provide accurate cutting instructions.

This particular customer expected a certain cut on one of the primals, but that particular cut wasn't conveyed to my employee at the time instructions were given. If a customer has particular types of cuts they desire, we recommend they personally visit our store, where the cutting instructions will be discussed and the customer receives a copy of the instructions to take with them.

The customer stated she would not send any more animals to us and never asked for a refund of the fess at the time she picked up the lamb.

Response:

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

We were present when the 2 Lambs were slaughtered.

We watched the Slaughterer tag the Lambs.

We had our own paperwork on the cuts we wanted with the lambs, which was conveniently no longer available when I went to pick up the lamb.

The issues with this butcher started approximately 3 years ago when the current owner took over running the shop. I asked what he was going to do about the issue and I received a blank stare and no response.

I had a corriedale lamb weighing 65 pounds, after slaughter & prep for the butcher.

I would like recompense.

1. It should be noted that we have attempted twice to submit this rebuttal via the Revdex.com website but were unable to respond due to Revdex.com website issues.

2. This issue started when the customer felt the lamb did not weigh what she thought it should weigh. We weighed all 3 lambs upon arrival. [redacted]s lamb weighed 48 pounds. A second lamb weighed 39 lbs., and the 3rd lamb weighed about 63lbs. The larger lamb was tagged for a Mr. [redacted] and the slaughterer, Mr. [redacted], of [redacted] Ranch Slaughtering, ###-###-#### said the 2 smaller lambs were for the 2 ladies. The lambs were not weighed in the presence of Mr. [redacted]. It should be noted that our scales are certified as accurate by the Placer County Weights and Measures, most recently in October, 2013. We spoke with Mr. [redacted], and his opinion is that “no way” did the 2 smaller lambs weigh in the 60 lb. range. (what [redacted] is claiming). Mr. [redacted] characterized them as “light weights”. Mr. [redacted] also said that Revdex.com is welcome to call him for his input on this issue.

3. Regarding the cutting loss – the lamb weighed 48 pounds, loss was 16 pounds – a 33% loss factor – This is a normal loss factor for any animal whether it’s beef, lamb, hogs, deer, etc.

4. The customer is openly claiming we swapped her lamb for some other lamb – we DID NOT do this! We would never do this – and why would we? Why would be deliberately cause all this trouble for ourselves? It’s not even a case of a mix-up as those were the only lambs that came in that day or in days prior or after.

5. She claims a package of stew meat was “mostly bone” – we do not believe this claim. Stew meat is ALWAYS prepared as boneless.

6. Regarding the paperwork – it is not “conveniently unavailable” – we transfer the information to our invoice and throw away the original – we’ve never had this issue before so we’ve never had reason to keep the incoming paperwork.

7. Regarding her statement about a change in ownership 3 years ago – she is just flat wrong – our family has owned and operated this business for 36 years – David has been in the business for 29 years. So we don’t know where she got this “fact” from.

8. Finally, we have not been in business for 36 years by practicing such shoddy practices, again, why would we cause all this trouble for ourselves. We pride ourselves on the accuracy and quality of work – that’s why we have lifelong customers.

We are closing our file on this issue. We don’t believe anything we offer to this woman will make her happy. Also, we suggest she find some other processor to process any future lambs, we won’t be able to make her happy in any case.
