On 10-28-2015 K and D Woodworking signed a contract with the customer who is filing this complaint.  The original agreement to build new cabinets, install those cabinets, move a partial wall, construct another partial wall, change 1 interior door, and lay ceramic tile in the...

kitchen and 1/2 bath was agreed to be done in the beginning of April 2015.  However once the project started the customer needed more work done to accommodate the new hardwood floors they wanted. That work consisted of the removal of press boards that were installed on top of the original sub floor and screw the original sub floor down because it was only nailed down. They had asked me if we could do that.  I said yes I can get you an estimate. They then said just add it to the bill we are gonna hire you.  On 2-17-15 I removed the floors and on 2-18-15 screwed the subfloors down.  While doing this the customer then decided they wanted all new interior doors and casing trim to match the baseboard consisting of 5 interior and 1 exterior doors.  Once again they asked if we could do that, and once again I said yes I can get you an estimate.  They again said we are going to hire you just keep adding it to the bill.  I said I could do that but I needed some more money down. They agreed and put another 1000 dollars down on the extra work.  On 2-21-15 the ceramic tile installer came to look at the job and said there was problem with the floor it was not level.  We said we could level the floor but it was going to be extra cause that was not in the estimate. They agreed and said just put it on the bill.  On 3-27-15 we installed the doors and trim.  When that was finished that concluded the extra work so I gave the customer an invoice for $7930.85.  I was given $1000 down and they paid the tile installer $700.  That left a balance of $6230.85.  The customer refused to pay that amount.  I then settled for a payment of $5630.  After that I installed the new kitchen cabinets and they were pleased as could be and complimented us on how good they looked.  When they looked at their appliances they should have looked at the dimensions a little closer than they did.they wanted the standard cabinets that they had before which were a 24 inch deep cabinet.  The stove/oven that they purchased was not for a standard 24 inch 2 sided cabinet.  I then said I would try and make it fit better for them, and did so free of charge for them.  As for the overspray on the hardwood floor I also took care of that by having the floor installer refinish the whole floor and I paid him.  Once again when the job was complete she refused to pay me.  She made a list of everything she was unhappy with and gave it to me.  I went through everything on their list and fixed it all checking with her and her husband that it was satisfactory.  Then again she refused to pay me.  They gave me $8100 down on the original contract of $12400 and that left $4300 due at completion.  They would only pay me $3500 for that bill.  I accepted it as a loss!  They had now ta[redacted] me for a $1400 loss!  I moved on.  I feel they have had enough free things and refuse to give them more.  I have lost enough money on them!  So all in all I got paid $17230 not $20330 just other one of their lies.  As for the time frame, when you add the work like they did it takes time to do that work!  Work would have also been done sooner but couldn't go there if she was there due to her preference. Thank you for listening to my side of the story.

Revdex.com:
Thank you very much for your help in trying to resolve this issue. We find it appalling for K&D to lead you to believe we bought super sized appliances  We purchased 24" standard size. We should never been put into a position to have our newly installed hardwood floors repaired Professionals do not hold over a floor a 18x8" piece of cardboard with a 6x3" hole in it & spray varnish After speaking to other contractors We have decided to allow K&D's work to speak for itself  We will be contacting a building inspector to have K&D's work inspected . If you sign a contract under a business name but have to write the check out to his personal account BEWARE! We thought we hired professionals instead what we got were part-time DIYER'S who charge professional fees. Home owners should not be threatened with legal action when services provided are inferior.   Reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. Again thank you for your time.
Regards,
