complaint was received in July, 2015. A community meeting was held on July 13, 2015 at which time the following was discussed:-Smoking is to be done 25 ft away from the building. Not on your balcony or near the entrances. -Community patio…only smoking may be done if you are on the far east side by the benches. Other residents would like to enjoy the patio area without having to be concerned about smoke.-Several residents suggested a designated smoking area with benches and a shelter for when the weather is bad. At every move in the smoking policies are stressed and acknowledged by the residents by signing the Smoking Addendum. On October 13th a notice/newsletter was put on every residents door. In this there was a paragraph dedicated solely to the no smoking rules of the building and a warning to be mindful of the rules. Again, in the January 2016 newsletter, the very first item clearly stated that the smoking rules (as all rules) need to be followed, and to refer to the Community Policies and Smoking Addendum that was signed at move in, and to come to the office with any questions.Three residents have been spoken to verbally, as well as, written violation notices served. We do take our non smoking policies very seriously and should offenders continue, they will be evicted.  These notices were served on 12/28/2015 and states, violation is for “smoking in your apartment and/or too close to the building. Please comply immediately.”Each of these residents came into my office the same day to say that they had not been smoking. One resident stated that she has an electronic cigarette and that she had used it in her apartment, but not any other type of cigarettes. They were all reminded again to only smoke in desingate areas outdoors.Again, we truly regret that a few violated the smoking policies. These violators where noticed and will be evicted if another incident occurs.
