Roth Carpet & Flooring 2U is closely related to Roth Carpet Cleaning. Our tile install by the Houston so-called “franchise” was a complete disaster. Horrific punctuality, obscenely slow, extreme incompetence, and nonexistent supervision. And oh, yes, the worker robbed us of some valuable jewelry. Ed S[redacted], related and/or business partner to Dave H[redacted] promised to remove the trainwreck and failed to do so. He promised to provide a refund and ignored all calls and emails. He even ignored a small-claims judgement for the same. Calls to the Pittsburgh office were similarly ignored.
Even trying to track down these companies’ relationship and status was a frustrating quagmire of nonexistent companies, addresses, and names. The long and short of it, whatever quality of work this outfit does on a good day, don’t expect to get your money back if it goes badly. Looking through past reviews, this seems to be a pattern. Not from Dave H[redacted], Ed S[redacted], or any company that combines the words “Roth” with “Carpet.”

Fair prices, employees clean, polite, hardworking. Carpets look great.

Review: We recently had Roth Carpet Cleaning to our house to clean our carpets for the first time (our story was just installed by [redacted] in Nov 2011). This was our first ever professional cleaning and the company was recommended by friends. We had them out and noticed orange brown spots over half of our carpet following the drying process. They returned a couple days later to fix the problem. We were told by [redacted] that he had put too much soap down on the heavily soiled regions and just few ashes those areas and recommended that we obtain a fan to help with the drying process. We did so and the result was worsening of the orange brown spots. We called Roth back again and they sent [redacted] for a third time and he put another cleaning agent down which did not fix the problem. We then had their supervisor [redacted] to our house on August 3 and he rinsed out the carpet again resulting in worsening of the spots. I spoke with [redacted] later that evening and he stated that he had spoken to the owner [redacted] who stated that they would be replacing our carpet as it was now ruined by the cleaning process and it could have been due to a reaction with the make up of our carpet. I have not heard back from the company and have left numerous messages for the owner Mr [redacted] to return my call since Tuesday August 6. I was told on Friday by the secretary that she believed that he was avoiding our phone calls. I am completely and utterly dissatisfied with Roth carpet and their handling of this matter. My carpet has been ruined and no one will call me to rectify the situation. I need help!!!Desired Settlement: I would like Roth Carpet to replace my carpet. We had it initially installed by [redacted] for $4106 plus I believe their was a deposit on top of that that we were required to pay. I also would like to be compensated for the fee of cleaning my carpet if possible as well.

Response:

Dear Ms. [redacted]:

This letter is in response to the complaint ID #[redacted].

The original service was completed on July 22, 2013 by a technician Ms. [redacted] had

specifically requested.

Ms. [redacted] had contacted our office to report there were orange spots on the carpet.

The original Technician returned to her home on July 27, 2013 to reclean the problem

areas. Ms. [redacted] had recontacted our office to inform us the orange spots had returned.

On July 31, the Technician went to her home a third time and treated the problem areas.

The Technician reported that the orange spots were, reappearing because of a product that

Customer used to spot clean the carpet. On August 3, 2013 and again on August 24. a

Supervisor went to inspect carpets and treat the spots. Each time a neutralizing product

was used on the problem areas. The problem was corrected, but seemed to reappear.

Ms.[redacted] contacted the office after each service stating the orange spots were lighter

but remained. The final services were completed on August 29 and again on October 8

by a Supervisor, This Supervisor again applied neutralizer and reported that spots faded.

Ms. [redacted] is aware this problem was caused by her using a household spot treatment

product that was too harsh for the carpet.

Roth Carpet Cleaning is committed to Customer satisfaction. That is why we continued

to return 6 times, for no additional charge, in an effort to correct a problem that we did

not cause.

Yours truly,

Office Manager

Review: I contracted Roth Carpet Cleaning as per a deal through Angie's List. 5 rms/ sofa $179.90 Angie's List put through the charge prior to an appt time even being set up. taken from my checking account on July 9th. ( WHO charges for a service before the person even comes to do the work ? ) The technician presented me with a bill for $179.90 PLUS other charges, coming to a bit over $312.00 The $179.90 "deal" written on the first line of the charges. So, is this a common, cute trick for Roth carpet cleaning to collect twice on one service or are they going to claim that they also didn't know ( doubtful ) that the charge was put through right away. They owe me $179.90. I have called and called. They say they will be happy to refund theovercharge of $179.90 when I talk to them. Nothing has appeared in my mailbox nor have they credited my Paypal account for the $179.90 double charge.Paypal says that the refund MUST come from Roth, since their carpet technician's receipt shows the second charge for the same already paid services.Desired Settlement: Send me a check for $179.90 or credit my paypal account for the same amount. Otherwise,my Attorney [redacted] will also become involved. Do you have more time to go to court over your companies' business practices, Mr. [redacted] ? Like your being so very sorrythat you didn't pay the State for the taxes collected from customers ?

Review: On 11/22/13 I contracted with Roth Carpet cleaners to have my carpet cleaned in my home which involved living, dining areas, stairs, hallway and master bedroom including scotchgarding of these areas. I had a 25% coupon for the cleaning. Total cost for cleaning/with the discount was $84.00. The total cost with scotchgarding totaled $196.00. I called the office to verify the cost. Since I had done business with this company before, I was comfortable with their reputation. The carpet was cleaned, but the serviceman said his scotgarding machine was malfunctioning and asked if he could return the next day to finish the job. I called his company to inform them of the problem. I was assured that someone would finish the work the following day. I paid the complete amount of 196.00. No one came the following day, nor did anyone call me. I placed on less than 10 calls to the company. I was told that a refund would be issued by the accountant by the 15th of the month when accounts are paid. The accountant even called and left a message to that fact. I have not received any refund from this company. I will never use ROTH again. I want my money for services not rendered.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund for services not received, inconvience and misreresentation in advertisement and faulty equipment and the attendant used water from my bathroom to fill his cleaner.

Review: I order Roth Carpet cleaning 3 step process. The tech came on 8-14-14 to perform the cleaning. He came in spray the carpet with some kid of solution. The deep cleaning was running a buffer in 2 out of the 3 rooms for about 10 minutes. He then did the steam extraction it took about 30 minutes. The deodorizing & sanitizing was dipping the hose in a bucket of water and putting the water into the steam machine. What a rip off I am out 175 dollars and the carpet does not look any better. Please save you money.Desired Settlement: $176.90

Review: I requested carpet cleaning services from Roth Carpet Cleaning to be performed on Monday, April 6, 2015. The technician/employee was late in calling to confirm the appointment as he was having trouble finding our home. He was looking for [redacted] and the technician did not arrive on our premises until around 9:45am. When I asked the technician/employee if the truck cleaning was better than the canister for the additional cost per room, he said the truck cleaning was better plus it was “easier” for him to do. Shortly it became apparent that he was having difficulty setting up the equipment—untangling the hose and electrical cord. When the technician finally got the equipment set up from the truck (approx. 35 minutes after his arrival), he planned to begin cleaning the upstairs hallway. When [redacted] noticed the technician standing in the hallway looking into the water/solution supply hose, [redacted] asked the technician if he was having difficulty with the equipment. The technician claimed he was not “getting any water pressure” even though there was no problem with the water pressure in the external water faucet before or after the fire incident. We overheard him several times using his cell phone to call someone asking questions regarding equipment. The technician came back up to the house, in a very calm demeanor and announced, “I think my truck is on fire, do you have anything to put it out.” I went outside with him to find the inside center portion of the van engulfed in flames. My wife then called 911 as flames were engulfing the truck - the air —the response person told us to evacuate the house and dispatched police and firefighters. This event was documented by the local police and the local fire dept. A bystander overheard the carpet cleaning technician on his cellphone say that he “always seems to have a problem when he takes a truck out.” I phoned Roth carpet in an attempt to reach Mr. H[redacted] (Owner & President) who eventually arrived at the scene. Due to the fire, our personal auto sustained over $1,400 worth of damages, and our home property sustained over $5000 in damages (vinyl railing, concrete driveway, and landscaping). We had the final repairs to the driveway completed late June 2015. To date, it has cost us $100 auto deductible plus $500 homeowners for a total of $600, not to mention the four hours initial clean-up. We also had to invest a considerable amount of time coordinating the repairs to our vehicle and property. Our insurance company has had the burden to pay these claims, less the deductible, which may impact our homeowner insurance rates. The carpet cleaning service was never performed, and we never received any courtesy follow-up from the company. We were not offered any assistance by the company for the initial debris cleanup, which was four hours of labor by two family members to clean up the debris left behind once the van was towed away. We also had to wait several hours and make two phone calls to the office before a towing company came to pick up the burned carpet cleaning vehicle. We want to add that NO MATTER WHERE IN THE VAN THE FIRE ORIGINATED, THE FACT REMAINS THE FIRE CAUSED SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO OUR AUTO AND PERSONAL PROPERTY. We have been Roth customers for over twenty years and were always pleased with the service that was provided in the past. We are asking, as a customer service courtesy, that they reimburse us for $600 for our deductible expense. We sent a certified letter to David H[redacted] (President) and Harry H[redacted] (VP) on July 6 requesting a response by Friday, July 17. We have not heard from them since the fire. We can provide photos of the burnt out Roth Carpet vehicle, the fire and police on our property, the damage to our property, as well as Mr. H[redacted] and his employee in out front yard surveying the damage.Desired Settlement: We are asking, that Roth Carpet Clearning reimburse us for $600 for our deductible expenses that we paid ($500 homeowners & $100 Auto) after sustaining over $6000 in damages to our home and auto due to their truck fire in our driveway.
