Roth Fence

We hired Roth Fence back in May to build a picket fence in our back yard. We were told that he was about 30 days out. We paid him 50 percent down and waited for our fence. After 5 weeks I gave them a call to find out where we were in line, wanting to know when we could expect them to come. [redacted] said she'd have her husband call us. I waited a week and called again. Again, she knew nothing and would have her husband call. I waited another 3 days and called again. Getting frustrated I had my husband call. Another week went by and nothing. Another week passed and they finally called and said there had been a shortage of lumber and they would finally be building the fence the following week. The next week came and went-- no call from them and no fence. I called again and was told by [redacted] you need to be patient, you don't know what it's like to run a small business!" In business, things happen beyond your control, I know that--because my husband and I also own a small business. Ignoring your customers is rude, disrespectful, and unprofessional.
They finally started my fence last Wednesday. And the 2 day job dragged on and on. Started on Wed. nothing on ?thursday ( there was some rain) Friday they started working at 9 am and left for the day at noon. I thought they just went to lunch, but they never returned. So, they don't work when it's wet and they don't work when it's dry. Monday is rained, so no work, Tuesday they did some work. On Wednesday we expected it finally to be done, but nope, they left with only 1 section left.
Now the fence is finally complete--2 months after the promised time. And honestly, it's a nice fence, they did a very good job on it, but their lack of professionalism, and total disregard for their customers left me wishing I had never done business with them. And do you know no one ever said they were sorry about our experience or the lateness or their unwillingness to call back with updates. if anyone asks me what I think about Roth Fence, I'd have one word for them--RUN!

Last spring (2014) they gave me an estimate to repair a fence they had put in some time ago. they asked for $300 down. Because I had worked with them years ago I gave it to them. They never fixed the fence. They would not answer when I called them. The phone was disconnected for a while. I think an older family member was running the business when I first dealt with them years ago. Not worth paying to file in small claims court . Doesn't do any good to have a Judgment against someone who doesn't pay.
