Ms. [redacted] had two jobs performed at her residence. One was on 4/13/2015 for $125.00 and one on 4/14/2015 for $988.57. On 4/21/2015 Roto Rooter spoke with her and agreed to refund $375.00 which was credited back to the card. In July, Ms. [redacted] disputed the remaining $738.57 with... her credit card company. The charge was upheld in Roto Rooters favor. Complaint: 12050910
I am rejecting this response because:
In response to the complaint (#12050910) against RotoCo, I
am not in agreement with their response filed with the Revdex.com.
RotoCo’s response indicated that they refunded $500.00 to my
godmother other to pay for cosmetics that we were not happy with.  This is absolutely untrue.  The refund was a result of SEVERAL
requests for a detailed invoice for the work performed in my godmother’s
basement.  This was billed separately
from the work performed to repair the sewer line outside, which was an
additional $26,325.00. Once the invoice was received I noticed that my
godmother was overcharged for services that were not performed and she should
not have been billed for.  They agreed to
remove the charges from the invoice and a new invoice was sent with the
reduction. Once the corrected invoice was issued, the bill was paid in full.
RotoCo also indicated in their complaint response that they
had been out several times to remedy aspects of the job and that they had
performed additional work at no cost regarding the walkway and fencing.  This was NOT additional work
performed.  This work was to make repairs
caused by RotoCo.  When installing the
sewer line, they broke a portion of the fence that separates my godmother’s
yard from her neighbors.  Additionally,
they didn’t make repairs to the walkway.
They made repairs to the side of my godmother’s house that they cracked
when removing the walkway.  We asked them
to come and make the repairs to cover all the cracks and instead of applying
stucco, they used a bubbly concrete mixture that wasn’t even smoothed out.  They were once again asked to come out to
remove the concrete and replace it with stucco.
This was the only time we ever told them the repair was satisfactory.
As for my complaint with the Revdex.com against
RotoCo, I requested a DETAILED copy of the invoice that my godmother paid in
the amount of $26,325.  After several
requests, I was informed by RotoCo, that this was not something that they
provide.  I believe it is our right to
have a detailed copy of an invoice outlining these charges.
Furthermore, when RotoCo dug the hole in my godmother’s
backyard to repair the sewer line, they only replaced a small portion of the
dirt they removed.  They did not compact
this dirt and now there is a huge sinkhole in her back yard that extends all
the way under the concrete sidewalk they installed when making these repairs.  RotoCo was called and when they came and
inspected the sinkhole, they said it was a landscaping issue and they would
charge my godmother for the work.  This
sinkhole only extends to the area where the work was performed and is
NOT a landscaping issue.
We need to have the sinkhole repaired, which will require
removing the walkway, filling the hole, compacting the dirt, and walkway
reinstalled.  Due to the quality and
amount of rework performed by RotoCo, we are requesting that they not perform
the repair, but reimburse my godmother for the repair made by a quality
contractor.

M[redacted]

We apologize for the misunderstanding. We will issue a refund within 5 business days.

Roto Rooter has performed all aspects of both the plumbing and restoration side in a positive manner. Roto Rooter was clear from the beginning, including a detailed breakdown and meeting with several family members regarding the cost breakdown. Our manager Vicente Oropeza has continually been...

communicating with the customer and we have been out several times to remedy aspects of the job that the customer wanted addressed. Each time we have been told that it was satisfactory. Roto Rooter has performed additional work at no cost regarding the walkway and the fencing. The customer has all paperwork for both jobs ( plumbing and restoration) including the Home Improvement contract. We have refunded $500.00 to the customer to pay for cosmetics that they were not happy with.It is our position that the work has been completed and no other refunds or adjustments are due.

We never agreed to the partial refund amount of $375 in lieu
of the fraudulent use of my card. That was the temporary manager’s solution to
the issue and “all he could do” until the manager returned. The manager was
supposed to follow up with us by coming out to our property to see the “work”
that had been done on 4/14/15 and 4/15/15 (Roto Rooter had the wrong dates
listed in their previous response) and to discuss the next steps, but failed to
do so.
The remaining amount was disputed with the credit card
company starting in May 2015 (not July). Once again, Roto Rooter cannot get
their facts straight. Whether intentional or not, it is concerning. Especially
as it pertains the misuse of my personal information and being dishonest with
my husband about my pre-approval of the $988.57. If they're being dishonest here, what did they tell the bank and what else have they been dishonest about?

Review: The men from Roto Rooter who came to service our sprinkler system seemed nice, but when left to replace a value and handle our credit card transactions, they were far from trustworthy. The main issues with Roto Rooter's service (or lack thereof) is two fold:1. Unethical practices 2. Inability to perform required workThe first time Roto Rooter came out to assess the sprinkler value on 4/13/15, the guy was at our house no more than 5 minutes, then off to the store to buy a new part. We were charged $125 for "an hour" - apparently his shopping trip was part of the fee? He didn't even return to do any work that day. He returned the next day and spent 6 hours "fixing" the value...to the tune of $988.57, which was charged to my credit card (WITHOUT authorization!). I had asked him to call my husband to approve the work/amount and use his credit card since I wouldn't be home that day. But, instead, the guy called my husband and said that I had already approved the charges and then proceeded to charge my card from the previous day. When we called to dispute it (and to say that the valve was still leaking!), we were told that the manager was out of town, however, the temporary manager did give us a partial credit of $375 on 4/15/15. He also came out to the house, along with the tech and another guy to try (again) to repair the leak and fix the sprinkler system that was now not working at all. When I finally spoke to the manager, [redacted], we set up an appointment to try and remedy the situation. He ended up never showing up to our appointment on 4/30/15 and never called back. We had to have another company come out and fix the problem that Roto Rooter created with our sprinker system as well as have them figure out why the value continued to leak. As documented by this other company on 5/30/15, "Had to turn valve around not installed originally in the right direction (inbound water plumbed to anti siphon side, outbound water plumbed to valve side)."Desired Settlement: We would like to be reimbursed by Roto Rooter for their unethical use of my credit card. The tech should not have reused my credit card number when I had asked him not to or lied to my husband about my preauthorization of work that he did/the amount/hours/etc. We paid $764 for another company to come and fix what Roto-Rooter should have been able to do and didn't. And despite our trying to have them resolve it (three times!), they couldn't do so, only to have their manager no show. Thank you.

Review: I called roto rooter about a broken duravit urinal and specifically asked two different call dispatchers if I would be charged for the service man to come out if he was unable to fix the urinal- both people said no you would not be charged anything you will be given a free estimate and recommendation for the service and go from there. Service man came to house looked at urinal, truthfully had no experience/idea what he was dealing with kept calling his boss and sending him pictures for advice. Service man was unable to fix anything said it could be water damage or a broken sensor and we should probably just replace the whole urinal. Then man writes me up an invoice for $100 as a service fee for his gas/time in coming out to the house. I told him repeatedly I spoke to 2 separate people on the phone that assured me I would not be charged anything if the repair man was not able to fix anything and he said yes this happens a lot that is not correct information it is $100 for my time to come out here. I told service man I refused to pay that and felt like that was a complete scam he then called his boss who tried to get ahold of the two people I spoke to on the phone and supposedly was unable to do so- boss told service man he would deal with call center people, but I was still responsible to pay the service fee. I told the man that was insane and wrote him a check for $40 to cover his gas so he would leave my home. I have never filed any complaint with the Revdex.com and felt this was necessary- I felt completely scammed and lied to and should not have had to pay a cent for the service man to come to the house for a "free estimate".Desired Settlement: I would like my $40 back from roto rooter and I would like the company to stop giving false information to customers as the service man acknowledged I was not the first person he had dealt with that was given wrong information and lied to about the service fee.
