I had a horrendous experience with the Roto Rooter that services Alexandria, VA in the zip codeFirst they agreed to have a technician come out between the hours of to pm on a Thursday eveningThen, they called me several times, between and pm to let me know they are available earlier than pmSince I was working until pm, and unable to access personal calls, I did not see their calls until pmI called the call center to let the technician know that I would be at home by pm, because that was the window of time agreed uponI was home by pmAt pm no one had arrivedI called several times and was informed that the local technician was still on another plumbing jobI did not understand why, if they had said they would give me service between pm and pm, that they did not make sure someone would be available then?
At pm I called again and was told the technician would arrive at pmWhen I called at pm, I was told the technician would be arriving in minutesBut that was too late for meWhen I told the call center person at pm that I needed to rescheduleInstead of being sympathetic or offering any kind of apology, she got defensive and angry because I had not let her know earlier that I needed to rescheduleI got another plumber to come out and snake the clogged drain today for $He used to work for Roto Rooter and quit after weeks because he thought the way this company gouges its customers is unconscionableI agreeThey are a bad company with no care for their customers health, well being, or scheduleI also had trouble getting a rough estimate of how much to expect I would be charged for simply unclogging a kitchen drainIt took five calls to the call center where everyone kept repeating to me that they were unable to give estimates by phoneHowever I was finally told that if I were to speak to the branch office, I would get an estimateThe estimate for a clogged kitchen drain was $Why would the same job by one plumber cost $ and at Roto Rooter, cost 3x more?

I had a horrendous experience with the Roto Rooter that services Alexandria, VA in the 22301 zip code.
First they agreed to have a technician come out between the hours of 7 to 9 pm on a Thursday evening.
Then, they called me several times, between 6 and 6 30 pm to let me know they are available earlier than 7 pm. Since I was working until 6 30 pm, and unable to access personal calls, I did not see their calls until 6 30 pm.
I called the call center to let the technician know that I would be at home by 7 pm, because that was the window of time agreed upon. I was home by 6 45 pm.
At 8 30 pm no one had arrived. I called several times and was informed that the local technician was still on another plumbing job. I did not understand why, if they had said they would give me service between 7 pm and 9 pm, that they did not make sure someone would be available then?
At 9 pm I called again and was told the technician would arrive at 9 30 pm. When I called at 10 pm, I was told the technician would be arriving in 15 minutes. But that was too late for me.
When I told the call center person at 10 pm that I needed to reschedule. Instead of being sympathetic or offering any kind of apology, she got defensive and angry because I had not let her know earlier that I needed to reschedule.
I got another plumber to come out and snake the clogged drain today for $150.00. He used to work for Roto Rooter and quit after 2 weeks because he thought the way this company gouges its customers is unconscionable. I agree. They are a bad company with no care for their customers health, well being, or schedule.
I also had trouble getting a rough estimate of how much to expect I would be charged for simply unclogging a kitchen drain. It took five calls to the call center where everyone kept repeating to me that they were unable to give estimates by phone. However I was finally told that if I were to speak to the branch office, I would get an estimate. The estimate for a clogged kitchen drain was $415.00.
Why would the same job by one plumber cost $150.00 and at Roto Rooter, cost 3x more?
This company has gone down the drain. Please convey this information to any future consumers.
