It is common
practice for plumbers/excavators to "mound" dirt to settle. When ground is
disturbed to replace pipe, air impregnates the dirt expanding its mass. The
disturbed dirt is filled back in to excavation areas and mounded allowing the
dirt to settle. Water will fill air
voids helping dirt to compact and shrink
the mass. There is no exact science to it, we just return the dirt that was
disturbed there. To haul dirt away would be more expensive/costly to consumer.
We leave landscaping to the experts
Plus we (plumbers)
are not landscapers we fix pipe in an emergency service and repair business
model. You don't want your plumber doing your landscaping.
