This dealership does not disclose or fix problems with their vehicles. They continuously sell vehicles to people that are in complete disrepair denying it every step of the way and in the end they will hide behind AS IS. Do yourself a favor and shop elsewhere. Good Luck

To Whom it May Concern:[redacted] [redacted] did purchase a 2001 Dodge Dakota from Route 21 Auto Sales, Inc on Feb. 14, 2015. As all vehicles from this lot and most used car lots for that matter, the vehicle was sold "As-ls." However, a third party warranty was included on this vehicle for 6 months or...

7,500 miles whichever comes first. Mr. [redacted] chose to purchase an extented warranty for $120.00 that made his term of coverage 12 months or 15,000 miles. He is correct. The warranty company does not cover electrical. That is stated on the contract with [redacted] that he signed. If there is a problem with the motor and/or differential, those are both covered by the warranty and can be fixed. Despite what Mr, [redacted] says, he was treated very respectfully. We have been in business almost 20 years and have an impeccable reputation with Revdex.com and the public. That doesn't happen without treating your customers right. It is unfortunate Mr. [redacted] is having problems but the issues he says he is having can be fixed by the warranty and minima! expense to the customer.Thank you,Route 21 Auto Sales, Inc

Review: My complaint is concerning a 2001 Dodge Dakota that I have purchased from Route 21 Auto Sales. The vehicle was purchased as a Buy here Pay here. The vehicle started giving issues before the first payment was due. I contacted Route 21 auto sales to see what I could have done and they sent me to a mechanic who diagnosed it and told me one thing that is wrong with it the warranty will not cover. The warranty would not cover a sensor that is submerged in transmission fluid but is electrical. The mechanic also said it has a bad noise (tick) in the motor that should be fixed along with replacing the rear differential. The vehicle has too many problems and seems to be a money pit. I contacted Route 21 auto sales and spoke to a [redacted] about making a settlement. I wanted to give the truck back for half of what I paid already. I called several times within the last 2 months and each time I am told I need to talk to the owner. I ask for the owner each time and he is never available. Today Saturday, April 25, 2015, I talked to [redacted] and being rude he said "obviously if he (referring to the owner) never contacted you, he doesn't want to buy the truck back". He wont tell me the owners name or contact information and I don't feel comfortable talking to these people in person. All I want is half of my money back in exchange for the vehicle. Please help me with this situation. Thank you.Desired Settlement: My desired settlement is half of the money I gave them. My down payment was $2250.00 and I made 2 payments of $225.00. All I want is $1350.00 back and they can have the vehicle, I do not want an unreliable vehicle. Thank You.

Review: I purchased a 2000 Chrysler Town and Country from Rt. 21 Auto on Feburary 21st, 2013. When I looked at the van I was assisted by an associate named [redacted] who willingly admitted that he didnt know much about the vehicle. I needed a van ASAP because I had just been in an accident and needed a vehicle to get back and forth to work. When I test drove it, I advised that it needed an allignment. When I came to pick up the vehicle and drove it off the lot, I realized that this had not been done as promised. I was upset, but didnt want to casue any trouble so I didnt say anything. I had this van for NINE days before the engine died. Completely died. As well as a timing chain that needed repaired. My van was in the shop for 3 weeks almost 4. The warranty ended up covering some of the repairs but I had to come up with $1000.00 of my own. I just had put down $2000.00 and now another $1000.00 on repairs for a van that I had just purchased????? Now, I know that this happens time to time with used vehicles, but I feel like I was completely taken advantage of. I still owe them 1600 dollars because the total price was $4000.00 and I put $2000.00 down and I have made 2 payments so far. Now, my turn signal switch is broken and will cost over 200$ to replace. I am a single mom and I cannot keep making repairs on this awful vehicle!!!!!! I am always scared as asson as I get in iot that it is not going to start or that I am going to break down.Desired Settlement: Refund/ReplacementI called and asked if I could come and look at something else to trade in and they said no. I would like to either come in and get another vehicle and use my current downpayment of $2000.00 and make payments on the rest, or I would like to have the additional $1600.00 that I owe forgiven becasue at its best this van is MAYBE worth $1500.00. This is NOT fair. I need a reliable vehicle. I have 4 children and I cannot continue to afford all these repairs. Can you please help?

Response:

First of all, the Town and Country was purchased as-is from the dealership with a third party warranty to supplement the vehicle. Secondly, when the timing chain broke, which is an unforeseeable and unfortunately in most cases a catastrophic malfunction, time and effort was put into trying to resolve this situation for the customer. Several phone conversations between Route 21 Auto Sales, the customer, [redacted], and the repair facility took place. None of which I see mentioned in the complaint. Also not mentioned, is the fact that the repair facility did not want to use the motor that [redacted] would supply. They instead wanted to use a more expensive motor which the customer is responsible for paying the difference. The customer was advised not to let the repair facilty upsell her this motor. The reasoning the customer was given was that a longer warranty came with this motor. That was untrue. [redacted] would warranty both motors for the exact amount of time. As far as the turn signal switch, I am able to purchase that same switch for $30.00 not $200.00. Someone else has taken advantage of this customer, not Route 21 Auto Sales. Also, not mentioned in this complaint is the fact that the first payment of $200.00 that due was forgiven because of this unfortunate situation. Route 21 Auto Sales is not able to offer replacement or exchange for this vehicle.
