difficulty Mr [redacted] encountered and is certainly not the standard business practices of Route 65 Classics.
Our normal procedure is once the car sells, funds must clear, if the car is being transported it must be accepted by the buyer, and then the title work must be processed. Once all that has happened, the funds are then released to the consignor. This process can take up to 21 days as is explained at time of consignment.
Unfortunately, what happened in Mr. [redacted] is that I had left for a two week vacation and was to return to work on Tuesday August 4th. Prior to my leaving I had prepared all the checks for consignment vehicles that had been sold for them to be released when the above steps had been cleared. There was a miscommunication and the file on my desk was given to the owner, Eugene [redacted], and told him they were checks to be signed. Once checks are signed, that is the indication that they can be sent. Mr. [redacted] assumed that I had been in contact with the office and had instructed them to release all the checks. Which was not the case. He signed the checks and handed them over to be mailed. Since many of the funds were not fully cleared is caused an issue at the bank. Immediately on my return I saw there was an issue. We immediately worked on resolving the issue on the checks that had been sent out early. Mr. [redacted] called 12 times between August 4th and August 5th. Each time he called he would state he would not be available for the rest of the day, but 20 to 40 minutes later he called again. I understand his frustration and do not take this type of error lightly but it was delaying us working forward to resolve this issue by his continual calls and threats. I personally told him I was diligently working on getting this resolved multiple times but his continued phone calls continued. We had the issue resolved by the 5th and Mr [redacted] received his funds.
