Complaint$1400 to repair exhaust/gas tank which continued to vibrate and hung so low, speed bumps were hit. Asked twice to re-fix, told car is safe repair OK '97 Toyota Tercel needed exhaust / gas tank repair to pass inspection. Paid VISA $1400 on 11/6/12 (Invoice # XXXXX)for repairs which were not done correctly. Car was now very noisy, vibrated from below, and would hit speed bumps. Went back twice the following week to ask to have re-fix issues. Was told, "The car was safe to drive, so the repair is the way it should be".Waited until Spring to have rest of work completed. Took same car to Amherst Welding 5/9/13 to have body work done and repair Route 9 Auto work. They needed to cut off back portion of Route 9 Auto pipe that was installed, and re-bracketed so it wasn't dragging / hitting and eliminated vibration / noise issues. Amherst Welding did all of this AND body work for $400.00 (Invoice # XXXXX)Desired SettlementThe $1400.00 charge by Route 9 Auto was excessive, when compared to Amherst Welding who corrected the work and did additional body work for $400.00. In addition, Route 9 Auto failed to even offer to make the repair when asked. The difference between the two costs is being requested as a settlement. Consumer's Final Response The car in question is a 1997 Toyota Tercel, not a '99 Toyota Tercel (as mentioned in the original complaint body).
