Review: [redacted] from Route World Brokers (White Plains, NY) brokered our agreement to purchase 2 Fed Ex routes. We did not close & he now refuses to return our deposit. I agreed to purchase one route and my partner agreed to purchase a second route. As the scheduled closing date of June 2013 approached, it became apparent that the route was being operated with more employees than what [redacted] had presented to us. When I mentioned this to [redacted], he advised me that if I worked the route, I could replace the extra worker. I advised him that regardless, I had been fraudalently presented with a business that was not being run as presented! We did not close.After negotiations, we agreed to purchase one of the Fed Ex routes. We spoke with Fed Ex and agreed that it was in everyone's best interest that we close after the busy season that runs through December **. [redacted] then pressured us to close in December stating that Fed Ex needed us to close in 2013. I spoke with Fed Ex who advised me that we could close in January. [redacted] then insisted that we close in early January. The seller's attorney contacted my attorney and advised him that they would keep both deposits (my $4,000 and my busines partner's $4,000) if we did not close in early January. We requested a change to a later January closing but the seller then backed out. My attorney contacted them again to re-open communication & the seller's attorney advised that they would extend one business day to sign all the necessary agreements (an unreasonable request).[redacted] first presented us with a fraudaulent business plan regarding a business which was not being run the way the business model indicated. He then tried to pressure us into closing dates, stating falsely that Fed Ex required it. When we asked for a reasonable request to extend the closing dates by mere weeks, [redacted]'s insistence forced a deal to fall through. He now refuses to return the $8,000 or provide information on an escrow account for the funds.Desired Settlement: We request the return of our $8,000 combined security deposit.
