Review: I contracted with this business to renovate a bathroom that had been badly damaged by a leak behind the wall. A wall needed to be replaced, new shower head installed, and new toilet installed. I additionally asked for a shower curtain rod to be installed, new vanity installed, and a vent/fan installed. Work was to be completed by April 14. It is now April 30 and the tub is not caulked or grouted, the sink is in the vanity but does not drain, the vent is still in the box, and the shower curtain rod is not in place because the worker did "not have the tools needed to install it". The worker left me a note on April 29 saying he would be away until May 5. The contractor has not kept appointments to view the work or discuss my concerns. The debris has not been removed because there was too much to fit in the truck the one time someone came to pick it up.Desired Settlement: I want the work completed by May 2, with all debris removed. I want to take a shower at home. I would like a discount on the cost of the work due to excessive aggravation and non-adherence to agreed upon deadlines and appointments.

Regards,

Review: I purchased a Big Deal from [redacted] on Feb 19, 2014 for a ceramic tile replacement for my tub. The cost was $1,499.00, to include demolition and installation, materials and removal of all job related debris. I wanted to choose my own tile, so I received a credit, not for the $350 listed in the coupon, but for $300. The add on form that Jim F[redacted], the sub, listed additional charges because he was going to install a seat in my new shower at my request. The work was not started until April 10th, when Jim came out to start the demolition. At that time Jim told me that I would have to give him a check in the amount of $450.00 because Rovase wanted money for the extra work.. The sub, Jim, would arrive sporadically, work a few hours and leave. I am a flight attendant and have to leave town for extended periods, so I gave Jim a key to my condo and my [redacted] card, to pay for incidentals. On April 26th, I wrote another check to Rovase for the amount of $550, which Jim insisted upon. On May 1st, with very little work done other than demolition and a great amount of mess, I was asked for another $300.00, which I wrote a check for. On May 20th, I left town for a 6 day trip, and I made it clear to Jim that when I returned I expected the project to be completed. He assured me that it would be. When I returned home, nothing was done, and I told Jim to gather his tools and leave.

I called [redacted] to file a complaint. When Robert S[redacted], owner of Rovase, read the review, he called me and told me that he had no idea that the job had not been completed and he asked me for the opportunity to make the situation right. He sent a new subcontactor, Scott, out on June 2nd. He promised me that the job would be completed in 3 days and that he would send two of his best men out to complete it. When I called S[redacted] to ask where the second worker was, he said I would have to pay for that personally. So I did. I paid an extra $80 cash every day for 5 days so that Scott would have help, and get this job done.

S[redacted] also came out later on June 3rd with a new contract for me to sign for the amount of $4000.00 for a total bathroom remodel. He also asked me for $300 cash.

I refused, and at the end of 5 days I told the two new guys not to come back, their work was shoddy, I was disgusted and wanted nothing more to do with Rovase.

I sent a certified letter to Robert S[redacted] informing him of my intention of taking him to small claims court, and he informed me that since he had filed bankruptcy last September (I purchased my coupon from [redacted] in February), I would get nothing.

I finally hired a professional tile setter to try to make something presentable out of the mess that Rovase had caused, and while the work is ongoing, the end is in sight.Desired Settlement: I would like a refund for the $2700 paid to you for work never done, $50 for trash can that Jim ruined mixing grout, $450.00 for repairs that Jim had to make to my downstairs neighbors ceiling after he left the main water cut off leaking, $130.00 for the master water cut off key for the [redacted] Condo Complex, which Jim F[redacted] borrowed from our maintenance supervisor and never returned, $75.00 for the custom hand made tile which Scott broke while installing it, and which is irreplaceable, and $2000.00 for unauthorized charges made by Jim to my [redacted] card for items never used in my home. I also expect compensation for the work done by the qualified tile setter who is having to redo and repair the shoddy workmanship done by your company, to be determined, but at this point is over $1000.00. This totals to date $6,405.00, and I do not know how to put a price on the inability to use my master bathroom for 6 months, as well as the disgusting presence of my disconnected toilet sitting in my master bedroom. I basically had no use of my upstairs living area for this entire time.
