My husband received his first bill for a cleaning more than a year after said cleaning took placeHe was billed for periodontal maintenance, despite specifically asking for simply a cleaning (periodontal maintenance can be similar to a cleaning, but is billed differently and costs more)The bill we received stated periodontal maintenance was performed and that we owed money and would be sent to collections if we did not pay within two weeks -- the office itself was closed for the majority of this time with no way to contact with any questionsAgain, this was the first communication we had received regarding this bill from DrKimball's office (Worth Noting: I was in this same situation about months ago, when I had not received communication regarding a bill (normally 100% covered) that DrKimball also improperly billedI typically pay at the appointment if anything is due, so a bill with a remaining balance was shocking, especially seeing the dentist's office had sat on it for months before initiating contact to inform me of a remaining balanceAt that time, his assistant at the front let me know this is a common issue that many patients face, but DrKimball has not adjusted despite the arising issuesMy other review covers this issue.) My husband finally got a hold of DrKimball today, and DrKimball told him that "periodontal maintenance IS a cleaning" and then told my husband to "google it" when he had further questionsYes, a professional refused to answer clarifying questions regarding a bill, and instead told his patient/customer to "google it" My husband told me about the incorrect billing and the refusal to provide explanation or assistance, so I went up to look into it I went up and asked about it, and the receptionist (or dental assistant -- unsure as to the specific role, so I apologize if my assumption is incorrect) went and fetched DrKimball He opened with, "as I explained to your husband, periodontal maintenance IS cleaning, and as I told him, you can Google it." I interrupted him to ask him to not talk down to me and to speak to me professionallyHe took this call for civility as me being "angry" and told me to leave his officeAt no point did I raise my voice - I simply remained calm but firmRemaining calm, I asked the receptionist to print a copy of the bill and asked if there was anything I needed to provide to prove we were appealing this charge through our insurance agency so we wouldn't be sent to collections (again -- they only informed us of this charge less than two weeks agoThis was never mentioned during calls asking us to schedule cleanings, when in theory the bill would also be visible to whomever was calling) While the receptionist originally said she could put a note on the account, as I said I would happily pay once the appeal was complete if there was an amount remaining, DrKimball said he would send us to collections on Monday (less than a week) if it wasn't paid, despite not providing proper notice, contradicting a feature in his system that was just confirmed to me existed, and not being able to prove consent was given for the periodontal maintenance he claims he performed without consent or informing my husband I paid simply so we wouldn't have to fight collections and my husband and I have filed the appeal with our insurance companyWe are also consulting legal help and seeing what can be done to investigate and ensure others are not being wrongfully charged, despite DrKimball's experience suggesting he understands the difference between a cleaning and periodontal maintenance, and that he was not asked nor did he receive permission to perform the latter, when the cleaning as covered under our insurance was what was specifically requested In short, DrKimball was extremely rude, his billing practices are inconsistent with professional practices, and he refuses to explain his practices, or professionally work out legitimate concerns with his patients

I had gone in for a cleaning on Aug 3, 2016, was in the chair for about half an hour, quiet procedure, seemed pretty simple cut and dry cleaning months later on November 17th, I received a bill that was dated November 16th saying I owed money when my insurance covers 100% of cleaningsI looked over the bill and it was stated that I received periodontal maintenance which I was not informed ofA $procedure that my insurance only covers 75% of I called just to find out that DrK [redacted] is out of office until the 29thSo on the 29th I calledAmazingly, DrK [redacted] himself is the one who picks up the phoneSort of in shock, I tell him the reason I'm callingIn a firm and clearly frustrated toneI tell the doctor that I was not told that I received this procedure and that I went in for a cleaningHe informs me that periodontal maintenance is a form of cleaning, which he follows with telling me to [redacted] itAgain completely in shock from what the doctor just sa

I tell him yes I'm not coming back and he just goes "Well then goodbye" and then hangs upMy wife then went to the office to inquire about as to inquire about the bill and find a solutionHe told her to also "Google" periodontal maintenance and when my wife requested professionalism from him, he told her to leaveShe was forced to pay the remaining bill, because he insisted it would be sent to collections despite only being informed about the bill days prior (this first contact is confirmed by the statement he printedI followed DrKimball's instructions and "Googled it": Periodontal Maintenance is not the same as regular cleaning as it is usually performed on someone who has or has signs of periodontal diseaseI did not request nor approve this service
