He has not returned my money
Unfortunately I did not read these reviews before I gave this man $400. I commissioned him to build a bed unfortunately he did not provide me any kind of service agreement because he didn't have time but did have time to cash a check. He certainly seems like a good person and I would hope that he will keep his word however after reading every single review about this being a repeated pattern I have little faith that I will get my money back. my next step is to go to the local police authorities and file a report for theft also leave it to the local officials for the town in which he works and resides in to handle this matter.

Scam alert. George Rowlinson will steal your deposit and then never work on the furniture.

collected a deposit of $375 from me for a custom made bed. He NEVER delivered the bed, and made every excuse why he needed more time. Eventually I requested my deposit back as it was almost 2 months past when the bed was due to me. He continues to promise to refund my deposit and I have not received $1 back at this point. This is SCAM.

’s accounting of the timeline/facts is correct. Regrettably I missed several deadlines and will have this deposit to her within several days. Ideally I can potentially deliver the bed upon completion to be paid for on installation.

I ordered a custom headboard from *** of Rowlinson Woodworking. I was promised delivery on numerous occasions. It has gotten to the point where he does no return phone calls or text messages. He was paid in full for a job he never delivered on.

This guy takes a deposit and then never delivers.

SCAM ALERT! My fiancée and I were so excited to find a local woodworker who could complete our dream headboard for our new home we had purchased. When I initially reached out to ***, he was very responsive and seemed willing to accommodate all our requests. Like similar reviews that have already been posted, this all stopped once he received our deposit. We had sent him a deposit of $275 in July 2018 (the total price for a queen headboard and footboard was $550). He said that the commission would be done in 3-4 weeks. The price and timeline seemed too good to be true compared to other quotes we had gotten, but from what I could find online at the time, I felt comfortable enough to trust he was legitimate. Four weeks past and we hadn’t heard anything. I started panicking, as we had found him on ***, and thought surely, we had been duped. After another week or so, he emailed back and apologized for not getting in touch. He said he was backed up on commissions and was going to start soon. This was no problem for us, all we asked was that he would have it completed by our housewarming party in October 2018. I’ll make a very long story short… after months and months of him promising a certain delivery time, and then ghosting me, and then calling and apologizing and promising never to ghost me again, and then ghosting me again, it is now over a year since we sent him our deposit. After I threatened to take this to the police, he did send $100 back in March via ***, but he said that was just to hold us over and that we would see the rest within a week, which of course we did not. We still have not received the remaining $175 and I don’t think we ever will. He had us pay via ***, which apparently isn’t like *** and won’t refund your money if you get scammed. I’m willing to bet he knew that going into all of this. He gave me all sorts of sob stories along the way about how he doesn’t normally run his business like this, and he has fallen on hard times and has kids to feed, and a bunch of other crap. At first, I bought it and felt kind if bad, but clearly he is just using all of these things as an excuse to get away with stealing.

In November of 2018 I reached out to *** inquiring about purchasing a bed for the near future. We spoke briefly on what I’d be looking for and received a few quotes and I stated I’d be in touch when I was ready. On April 24th,2019 contacted *** to order a bed and after conversing, I made a deposit of $235 via *** to get the bed started. Through phone calls, email, and text we exchanged ideas on what the finished product would be. On April 25th, 2019 via email I received my receipt for my down payment and *** put it into writing what he was going to create for me with a completion/delivery date of June 1st, as I was moving into a new location. On May 14th,2019 via email Mr. Rowlinson stated he need my bedroom measurements to get started, but as I in process of moving into a new location I wouldn’t have that information until May 29th,2019 which is when I provided him the measurements. On May 15th,2019 via text Mr. Rowlinson invited me to his shop for the week of May 20th located at *** to make sure we were on the same page about the bed as this was his first time creating a canopy style bed, but I was unavailable that week and going away on vacation returning May 27th, and Mr. Rowlinson stated he'd reach back out to me when I returned. On two separate occasions (May 15th and June 1st) *** offered me a discount on the remaining amount of $240 to $195 if I paid prior to delivery. On June 1st I took him on the offer and sent $195 via ***. Via email we agreed to meet Tuesday June 4th at 4pm. On June 4th, I receive a text that he is unable to meet and to reschedule for Wednesday June 5th same time but again he canceled and stated I didn't need to go it was solely to get my approval but from email, phone and texts he had a pretty good idea and I was told that my bed would be delivered NO LATER than Saturday June 8th which was my move in date. On Friday, June 7th I reached out to *** to confirm the delivery of the bed the next day Saturday, June 8th, via phone and text no reply. Mr. Rowlinson responds June 8th in the morning apologizing he missed my calls and states if delivery around 6/6:30pm would be okay and I stated yes. As the scheduled delivery time came and went no bed. I called and no answer. I called him a couple times the next day Sunday June 9th no answer I received a text at 2:50pm stating I'd receive a call in 10-15 minutes and nothing until the following day at 8:04am I received a text stating he will call me with a realistic delivery date since he had to order hardware and apologizing but again he did not reach out to me as promised. I sent him a text Tuesday June 11th in the morning stating I was dissatisfied with his lack of communication and at this point I wanted my bed delivered the next day (Wednesday June 12th by 8pm) and if that was not going to happen I wanted a full refund of $430 via *** which is the same manner I sent the payments. Wednesday June 12th, I get a call from Mr. Rowlinson that lasted 10 minutes and I was informed that as of yet the bed was not completed and that he was dealing with a lot and that if I could give him 1 week to complete the bed and I was promised the bed NO LATER THAN Wednesday June 19th. On June 19th, I call *** in the morning to confirm delivery later that day no answer and I get a text message stating I’d get a call within the hour and the bed was done and he just needed to plan a dropoff. After that text I no longer heard from *** as I tried to call and text no reply. I sent a requested for payment via *** in the amount of $430 which I still not received to date. Today June 20th I texted *** letting him know I was a dissatisfied, no longer wanted the bed and just wanted my full refund. Mr. Rowlinson still has no responded or refunded me my payment for a job that was not done and a product not delivered in the allocated time agreed upon.

Hello - The detail provided in ***'s complaint is correct. Scheduling deliveries has proven exceedingly difficult over the past several months due to multiple circumstances. I would like to apologize for this going badly. I will refund ***'s full amount paid as soon as possible - at the latest within ten days from this writing.

I purchased a custom made closet barn door to match a previously made bed. *** came out to the house and took measurements for the door, at the same time he offered installation but failed to mention he has no experience with installing his product. Once the door was completed *** returned to my residence to install the door. *** never brought the door into the room to confirm that it would fit properly but began installing a hanging board above doorway as discussed. Not only did he not show up with the correct tools to complete the job he put 12 unnecessary holes in the wall in the wrong place. *** told me he was unable to hang the door due to the fact we needed longer bolts other than what was provided with the track purchased. He was to return on the weekend to complete the job. Once he left I was able to determine he did not place the hanging board in the correct place. I had my contractor come out to finish install. Once the door was brought into the room we quickly determined it was large enough to even fill the doorway. I had contacted *** to make him aware. We also discussed that he was not experienced in hanging such a product to which he agreed it would be better to have someone else complete the job. *** did offer to remake the door but I was reluctant due to the fact that he already failed at installation and now the door was the incorrect size. *** and I came to an agreement that he would refund me the purchase price of $250. *** sent two emails stating this along with dates the refund would be processed. After not receiving the refund I contacted *** with no response. The emails I have clearly state I would be refunded the amount paid for such product.

I contracted with this business to build me a piece of furniture in June, 2018. I placed a 50% deposit for the item I ordered. I spoke to the owner by phone and also texted with him several times. When nothing was produced during July or August, I contacted the owner in September to inquire about the item I had ordered. The owner assured me that he would be working on my item and was waiting for the wood to dry. I periodically contacted this person monthly through December asking about the status of my order. Often it would take several inquiries before I heard back from the owner. Finally in December I offered him one last chance to produce the piece I ordered or return my money. He said he wanted to complete my order. When the deadline came and went, I did not receive my order or my deposit. I continued to inquire about my refund during January and February, to no avail.

To whom it may concern/*** - I am so sorry at how badly this commission went. I relayed some of the details over the phone when we were trying to schedule the delivery and tried calling once (possibly more - I don't recall) to explain circumstances but the last half of last year (and into the very first part of this year) were tough - on me and on my business. Rapid growth toward mid year of last year led to orders came too fast at a time when I was already treading water due to summer scheduling involving my kids. An inefficient business model, over reaching and scheduling missteps all led to things getting pretty close to flaming out. I wasn't sure how to organize or stay on top of a mass of orders I couldn't fulfill fast enough and got in over my head.I should have handled things better; communication first and foremost - this is the common denominator throughout all of the orders that were delayed, etc, and the complaint raised most; never anything about the workmanship. I cannot undo how poorly these things were handled - all I can do is apologize, take everything as lessons learned and try to do it better and more transparently. What the turn of the year amounted to was me being in the middle of managing and prioritizing my business based on the angriest customers. Never (EVER) where I thought I would find myself. Around the time I took your order is when things really started to crash. The took my *** ads down at the beginning of the year for a few months to try to get a handle on contacting people and working through the backlog I had (and still have some of). Many have chosen to work with me and I continue to get their commissions out but others have requested refunds. Slowly but very steadfastly I am working through a now dwindling backlog of pieces and trying to resolve every outstanding issue as soon as resources allow. As a man, a father and a businessperson the most important thing is to do what you say you're going to do, when you say you are going to do it. I have lost a lot through this but all I can do is try to rebuild things the right way. This is the toughest, most humbling lesson I have ever had to have reinforced in my life - especially at age 46 and in the context of being a business owner.I acknowledge the $165 owed. I can refund this, plus interest by 4/22 via certified funds mailed by USPS. Please let me know if this is ok or if you need anything further from me in the short term. Sincerely

Previously I filed complaint #*** against *** whom I had contracted to build me a fireplace surround but he never produced the piece. Once I filed the complaint, Mr. said he would return my $165 down payment. It has been two months and I have not received my deposit so I would like to reopen this complaint.

We are thrilled with the work of George Rowlinson of Rowlinson Woodworks. The quality of his contemporary furniture designs featuring reclaimed wood is exceptional while his pricing is reasonable. Because we initially contacted George through a *** post, we asked to meet with him prior to making any commission agreements. Since we live several hundred miles from his studio and happened to be driving through on a weekend, George invited us into his home to view some beds he had made for himself and his family. At that first meeting, we were impressed not only with the furniture, but also with the care and tidiness of his home which he shares with his two, young sons. We felt comfortable that he was “a straight-shooter”, as my husband later described him, and we gave him a deposit for a California king bed and two night-stands for our master bedroom. George was open about the fact that his business was taking off and that he estimated that it would take a couple of months before he could complete our commission. We decided we were willing to wait in order to have such unique, custom furniture understanding that George worked alone and that he had to manage all aspects of the business himself. What neither George nor we anticipated was that he would suddenly be inundated with commissions in the next few months, a situation which demanded many time-consuming adjustments on his part including moving his studio to a larger space. That plus an unexpected increase in family responsibilities meant that it would be well past the promised delivery date before George was able to drive to our home in mid-NH. However, any frustration we had felt over having to wait additional time was gone the minute that George delivered the furniture which turned out to be much more stunning than what he had shown us in his home. We agreed that the bed and night stands are truly works of art and waiting for them had been well worth it. Since then we have commissioned George to make several additional pieces for us. This most recent transaction took place in the last month and he was readily available by email or phone to work out the design details; he was also able to get the pieces done in less than two weeks indicating that he has turned a corner around communication and production. We are again amazed at the creativity and artistry displayed in his furniture. In fact, we consider George to be not only a skilled craftsman, but an artist in his own right; we feel fortunate to be able to enjoy his work that so beautifully complements and enhances the other contemporary artwork in our home. We highly recommend!
