For any interstate move there is always a carrier whose Bill of Lading the shipment moves on, and it is that Carrier who determines with the shipper what Liability coverage the shipment will move under,.........and who ultimately is responsible for any claim on the move.Also with any interstate move...
there are generally three entities involved, the origin agent (in this case Royal Alaskan Carriers), the transportation agent, Matson Lines, and the destination agent (unknown). The Carrier selects all of these agents and is responsible for their services on behalf of the shipper. If the shipper has a claim to file with their shipment, they do so with the carrier, not with one of the agents. I have contacted the Carrier in this shipment. The Carrier informed me that a claim was filed with them (not with Royal Alaskan Movers) and the claim is being settled with the responsible insurance company.this is the first we have heard about the claim.We did not receive your first notice.I will not be replying to the shipper in this case as it is not my place to do so. I am rejecting this response because: Royal Alaskan was made aware by Stephanie E*** on the date the shipment was received and the missing and damaged items were found. While Mr. C*** would like to just push this issue off on the insurance company, at the very least an apology for his employees failure to properly pack the items, to prevent damage and loss, would be greatly appreciated.
