Royal Court Motel

Review: We booked reservations at the Royal Court Motel on July 30, 2014 for the dates of August 4-6, 2014 for a family vacation. The total of this stay including taxes was $523.26. We chose this motel because photos shown on company webpage (www.royalcourtmotel.com) pictured a clean, comfortable and affordable motel located close to the beach and tourist attractions. We booked a poolside room with 2 queen size beds. Upon arrival we realized the misrepresentation of the website photos pertaining not only to the outer appearance of the motel, but especially to the room itself. Our room was located poolside as promised, however it was disgusting. There were stains on the wall next to one of the beds, the carpets and blankets were threadbare. The refrigerator in the room had crumbs and stains from previous tenants, the air conditioning cord hung down the wall in a way that posed a safety hazard to my children. The door did not fit properly in the door jam, allowing a large gap that caused us to question the security of the room. Within 20 minutes of arriving in the room we were back in the main office discussing our issues with the manager. An upgrade was offered, however we were completely disgusted with our original room and were not willing to consider a different room. The manager of the motel reversed the charges from the day of check-in as well as an additional $87.21, the remaining balance was $174.42. The manager advised us to file a dispute with our credit card company and the remainder would be refunded to us. Having never been in this situation that is what we did.Desired Settlement: We disputed the transaction amount of $174.42 with our credit card company and the motel has refused to issue the refund. We are seeking this amount be refunded based on the gross misrepresentation of the motel through the website and the promise by the manager that the funds would be returned once a dispute was filed. We were on the property of the motel for less than hour, no facilities were used or even touched. We wish for this amount to be reversed as a courtesy and in good customer practices. We arrived at the motel and checked-in in good faith upholding our end of the agreement, however the motel accommodations was unable to live up to their promises and photos.
