Initial Business Response /* (1000, 11, 2015/10/14) */
First let me start out by saying that the process of defending a company is a total load of *** here
On 10/I received three (3) letters in the mail from the Revdex.com All dated 9/
1st one was an original notification of a
problem/complaint Told me I had until 10/to respond
2nd one was a notice of an unrecieved response for a complaint
3rd letter was to inform me of a "closed case which went unanswered"
How am I supposed to respond to this after the case was closed and then notified a week later
Anyways, Regarding the complaint
I was originally contracted to do minor drywall repairs (nail pops, nicks, scratches), paint the bathroom, remove an old mirror, and install a new medicine cab, light fixture, and towel bars in the bathroom This was early in March
I had quoted but they beat me up on price to Now keep in mind they were also friends of my wife, so I agreed
The 1st day I was there the HO went through the entire bathroom with sticky tabs and marked every little nick and and scratch down to hair and fuzzies caught in the original paint job that her and her husband did a few years ago
I spent the entire afternoon patching a small 30sq ft bedroom and sanding while she looked on and pointing out more and more and more 4hrs It should have taken about and hour to do those touch ups
Only anticipating to be there for a weekendthings were not boding well to finish in a timely fashion
I finally got the patching done and prepped for paint Customers bought semigloss paint against my recommendations of satin or eggshell, but proceeded to paint the ceiling
Being that the SG paint generates a tremendous amount of moisture while drying and there was no air movement it was not drying in a timely fashion, causing me to have to come back another day to paint the walls
Came back day to hair in the paint and more stickers on the walls for repairs Instead of arguing I completed the additional repairs that she requested I picked the hair out of my fresh paint and touched up those areas on the ceiling
I painted the walls and again had to continue another day due to no air movement, moisture and slow dry time
At this point now they want to use the shower so it becomes a battle of moisture They used the shower prematurely and caused runs in the paint from the steam
Came back to install the fixtures not knowing this and she had stickers on the wall saying to fix Again friends of wife, so I obliged and repaired the runsI installed all of the fixtures and I thought I was complete The HO had bought all of the fixtures I was just the installer She did not like her light fixture choice and decided to buy a new one Special order so it was going to be a few days
By this time I had gotten pneumonia and was laid up for a week
The following weekend I returned to a very messy bathroom, again with more stickers on the wall I explained to her that I wasn't going to do anymore repairs She said it was the last time So again I patched and painted, againI changed out the light fixture and then noticed that the sink plug was broken Not knowing if I had done it during the process I replaced the drain assembly for free
So at this point they agreed that I was done They paid me and I left I told them that if there were any problems to call me as soon as possible as that my summer schedule was going to take me out of town until fall
Didn't hear anything for months Then I got a call from the HO around the end of June She had expressed concern for some touchups of the paint I explained to her my situation of scheduling and conflicts I worked in a time to go there during the week to do what she claimed were touch ups
I get there and again the walls are filled with little post it note stickers for dw repairs They have been using this room for months with people I attempted times to make her happy
On the final attempt her own husband said to me, "No matter what you do she will never be happy." So at that point I said no more and left
Yes I had forgotten my mud pan and sunglasses I did not abandon them
Then the harassment started Phone calls, emails, text msgs at all hours of the day and night to both me and my wife I told the HO that I was done She didn't get it She continued for a month Then she demanded a refund and they were going to hire someone to fix it I told them I would look into it I did and decided not to issue a any refund considering the amount of time that was invested and material costs I had incurred
She was not satisfied and threatened legal action At that point she was instructed to cease all communication attempts with both me and my wife and speak with my attorney He was never contacted by the HO and she sent me a final text that "she was not going away and she would get her money back She was going to contact the Revdex.com and file suit against me."
As of 10/still no contact with my attorney and no court summons
This particular case and after years of remodeling and business ownership, has caused me to re-evaluate self-employment I have closed my business and changed career paths
*** *** hope you are satisfied now
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 13, 2015/10/19) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
No, I do no accept the response from Mr***He has fabricated much of his version of the events that took place We have not had any contact with him to resolve this issue as he states, including us being contacted by any lawyer of his to resolve this I have no idea what he is talking about here This simply is just a flat out lie I would have welcomed an opportunity to speak with either *** himself or someone representing *** Any attempt by *** to answer any of the texts or emails we sent to him to try to resolve this would have been welcomed He just never did He ignored any attempts we made Once, when my husband got a hold of him he agreed to a refund and told him he would put it in the mail That is the last we heard from him The harassment (as he states) ensued in an attempt to have him stand by his word Meaning the refund, as I did not want this man in my home at all anymore Yes, we tried numerous times to contact him but certainly not all hours of the day and night as stated As for the price, he suggested $350, no bartering or beating him up about the price as he states He asked for and we agreed He suggested we buy semi gloss paint I wanted eggshell, but he insisted that bathrooms, due to high moisture need a semi gloss finish I agreed Since he was the professional So this is simply another lieThe light fixture I purchased had four lights on it *** hung it about inches off center When I came upstairs and saw this I told him that I needed it centered above the mirrored cabinet He stated that he could not hang it centered due to the positioning of my electrical box Why anyone would think to hang something that was not centered is beyond me I told him I would get a new light the same size as the old one just with different lights and would he be able to hang that? He said yes, and did I have no problem with the way the light fixture was rehung *** makes it sound like I was the hold up here, when in fact he was the one with the schedule so busy he couldn't come over Yes, I did have sticky notes hung where the paint finish was inadequate, where there were dried drips and wall paint on the ceiling I didn't want him to miss any of the mistakes that were made*** advised us that it was okay to use the shower the very next day This was our only shower in the household There was never any conversation with me about him saying he wasn't coming back to do more repairs and me saying it was the last time He just never came back, and refused any attempt to contact him We have pictures to show how *** left our bathroom complete with painter's tape all over the walls and ceiling, that I will submit with this complaint Included is also a letter written by the contractor who we had to hire to redo this job ***'s work was so substandard that the new contractor that we hired to fix ***'s mess commented on how poorly the surface was prepped and repaired It took him a full day of repair and prep work just to be able to start to paint and cover this messThe new contractor completed the work the next day and I was very satisfied with the work Dave did a wonderful job and we are very happy All we ever expected and wanted from *** was to do the right thing Clearly, he just didn't have a clue to what this might beWe paid him in full (clearly our mistake here) for a job he failed to complete satisfactorily I am not sorry that he feels that he had to close his business because of this case Having looked at numerous other reports about his business on line has opened my eyes to the importance of researching contractors work in the future Yes, I do think given this company's track record for poor workmanship and lack of customer service, that it very wise for him to close up shop Now I know that other homeowners will not fall prey to ***'s nonsense So in response to ***'s final comment about whether or not I was satisfied now? The answer *** is no and yes No, because I don't ever think I will see a dime from him and yes, because you are no longer a practicing contractor At this time we are still currently expecting *** to give a partial refund of at least for work not completed and paid for He did hang the mirrored cabinet and light fixture

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 11, 2015/10/14) */
First let me start out by saying that the process of defending a company is a total load of [redacted] here.

This particular case and after 25 years of remodeling and business ownership, has caused me to re-evaluate self-employment. I have closed my business and changed career paths.

Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 13, 2015/10/19) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
No, I do no accept the response from Mr. [redacted]. He has fabricated much of his version of the events that took place. We have not had any contact with him to resolve this issue as he states, including us being contacted by any lawyer of his to resolve this. I have no idea what he is talking about here. This simply is just a flat out lie. I would have welcomed an opportunity to speak with either [redacted] himself or someone representing [redacted]. Any attempt by [redacted] to answer any of the texts or emails we sent to him to try to resolve this would have been welcomed. He just never did. He ignored any attempts we made. Once, when my husband got a hold of him he agreed to a refund and told him he would put it in the mail. That is the last we heard from him. The harassment (as he states) ensued in an attempt to have him stand by his word. Meaning the refund, as I did not want this man in my home at all anymore. Yes, we tried numerous times to contact him but certainly not all hours of the day and night as stated. As for the price, he suggested $350, no bartering or beating him up about the price as he states. He asked for 350 and we agreed. He suggested we buy semi gloss paint. I wanted eggshell, but he insisted that bathrooms, due to high moisture need a semi gloss finish. I agreed. Since he was the professional. So this is simply another lie. The light fixture I purchased had four lights on it. [redacted] hung it about 6 inches off center. When I came upstairs and saw this I told him that I needed it centered above the mirrored cabinet. He stated that he could not hang it centered due to the positioning of my electrical box. Why anyone would think to hang something that was not centered is beyond me. I told him I would get a new light the same size as the old one just with different lights and would he be able to hang that? He said yes, and did. I have no problem with the way the light fixture was rehung. [redacted] makes it sound like I was the hold up here, when in fact he was the one with the schedule so busy he couldn't come over. Yes, I did have sticky notes hung where the paint finish was inadequate, where there were dried drips and wall paint on the ceiling. I didn't want him to miss any of the mistakes that were made. [redacted] advised us that it was okay to use the shower the very next day. This was our only shower in the household. There was never any conversation with me about him saying he wasn't coming back to do more repairs and me saying it was the last time. He just never came back, and refused any attempt to contact him. We have pictures to show how [redacted] left our bathroom complete with painter's tape all over the walls and ceiling, that I will submit with this complaint. Included is also a letter written by the contractor who we had to hire to redo this job. [redacted]'s work was so substandard that the new contractor that we hired to fix [redacted]'s mess commented on how poorly the surface was prepped and repaired. It took him a full day of repair and prep work just to be able to start to paint and cover this mess. The new contractor completed the work the next day and I was very satisfied with the work. Dave did a wonderful job and we are very happy. All we ever expected and wanted from [redacted] was to do the right thing. Clearly, he just didn't have a clue to what this might be. We paid him in full (clearly our mistake here) for a job he failed to complete satisfactorily. I am not sorry that he feels that he had to close his business because of this case. Having looked at numerous other reports about his business on line has opened my eyes to the importance of researching contractors work in the future. Yes, I do think given this company's track record for poor workmanship and lack of customer service, that it very wise for him to close up shop. Now I know that other homeowners will not fall prey to [redacted]'s nonsense. So in response to [redacted]'s final comment about whether or not I was satisfied now? The answer [redacted] is no and yes. No, because I don't ever think I will see a dime from him and yes, because you are no longer a practicing contractor. At this time we are still currently expecting [redacted] to give a partial refund of at least 200.00 for work not completed and paid for. He did hang the mirrored cabinet and light fixture.
