I spoke with the homeowner yesterday and expressed my apologies for the problems on her remodeling project and the inconvenience it has caused her and her family We are working together to resolve all outstanding issues, including obtaining all necessary permits and inspections

Please see the attached screen shot from the StLouis County InspectorThis shows that our electrician’s work passed the initial rouinspection on 8/It also shows that our electrican (*** ***) was removed from the permit on September 1st. To clarify the timeline: I notified Ms*** via phone on Monday, August 28th that we were pulling off her job. We called StLouis county immediately to have ***’s name removed from the permitThe county inspector then went to the home, performed a final inspection to make sure of the safety of the work we performed to date. By Friday, that had been completed and we were officially removed from the permit per StLouis County’s records. She was then able to apply for a new permit under the name of her new contractor/electrician

We apologize for ordering your custom door incorrectly and have provided you with the correct door at no additional charge. Please don't hesitate to call if I can help you with anything else.
Sincerely,
*** ***
President

While we dispute much of the homeowner's claims, it is true that we walked off the job on August 28th. It had become clear that we were unable to satisfy her expectations and we believed canceling our contract and refunding her for any work that was yet to be completed or wasn't completed to her satisfaction was best for all involved. In years, I have never done this
To date we have provided the homeowner with all requested replacement parts and/or any materials that she originally ordered and still wanted to receive from RSI. We canceled all other materials and have issued full credits. We still owe the homeowner replacement cabinet doors (arrived in the wrong size)They were reordered this morning and should arrive in weeksWe have also issued a credit for the replacement of her overhead garage door, Despite the fact that the door is more than years old, we are unsure if one of our workmen damaged the door or if the dents were existing

1/2/1:45pm Mediator called CONS for update"The situation is continuing to deteriorateThe subcontractor was *** ***, he seemingly received no information from the designers (BUS), he used years old insulationThey monkeyed the paperwork, jacked up the prices for work they did, to date I haven't received any money backI'd still like a return of $25000, I think that's fair."1/3/1:53pm Mediator called CONS to give update"They're lying through their teethWe're working with different facts, that's been the problem all alongI've waited for months and this is all I getCan they refuse to return my money? I'll contact the AG's office." 1/4/10:15am Mediator called CONS to give updateMediator Director is currently reviewing complain file

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because: I find Ms. [redacted]'s reply condescending.  She has tried to bully me.  Not once has she EVER said she was sorry! Her company caused every second of stress that I have endured for three months. I had to get all new permits , hire all new people, this took  considerable time and money. Never once has she acknowledged this.  In excess of 18 cabinets and/or cabinet parts have had to be reordered. With each cabinet replacement comes additional labor costs on my end.  Some cabinets have had to be replaced 3 times.  I am still waiting for 3 doors and an end panel.  They are trying to blame me when in fact it was their total lack of attention to detail  that created 100% of this tension. This was a BIG  job and they sent an inexperienced contractor to my home.  The damages are extensive, well beyond waiting for mis-measured cabinets and a damaged garage door and the trim around it.  They cuts holes in my walls, scraped woodwork, sent me USED tile for my bathroom.  The bathroom floor had to be redone, I would like to reimbursed for this expense. When we settle-I want releaselien waivers.  I had to hire a new contractor to repair the damages caused by RSI.  RSI said they were sending me an accounting with credits, but I haven’t received it yet.  After I get it I will reply promptly.  I just expect to be compensated fairly. I will reply- but it's taken you weeks to reply to me- don't give me a couple of days to now respond . This is nit fair.

I have sent at least 30 pictures of problems and added details of each.  To date you have made no serious attempt to reimburse me for damages your company caused.   I have a whole team of witnesses who will attest to this beyond shoddy workmanship in my home. Pleas loom at this picture. Look at the cracked wall- it’s not close to being flat.   Look at the moulding..... look at the cabinet.  Reminder-this has been mounted to the wall less than 2 months. ( and it’s almost empty) This wall, I noted in precious emails-was drywalled with several scrap pieces of Drywall.  None that matched.  There is no insulation in the wall-there is no vapor seal in the wall— -and it’s is an exterior wall.  I know this because the countertop people had to cut a hole in it to install the backsplash and patch it because it wasn’t flat.   The Drywall is cracking and the cabinet is moving away from the wall.  Do I have to worry that all my cabinets are going to fall off the wall because the wall was so poorly installed? This cabinet is almost empty - because I am concerned the wall might collapse. I truly believe RSI should return every cent I paid you and that’s over $63,000.  How is [redacted] construction in business?  Did you not do any background checks? I’d love to see them. Please— Look at the work here....  It’s beyond horrible.

There is little progress here - they have damaged my home. I paid them over $60,000- they won't confirm replacement date of my cabinets.  They messed up my hard wood floors and that needed to be done. I want my cabinets!!!! Please call them and get me a delivery date. There are over a...

dozen ! Their construction workers damaged my garage door a d garage trim. I told [redacted]. She has not responded. They sent people to my  house to take pictures and verify the damage- and still nothing!! Help!

1/2/18 2:09pm Mediator contacted BUS, spoke to owner. "She paid us for design and materials, we subcontracted out for work done in the home. She was unhappy with the work being done so I personally took over the project and worked with her for about 2.5 weeks handling this project before we made the decision to leave the project. We've never worked with someone who changed their mind so often or so quickly. Garage door: We didn't think we damaged that door but we took responsibility for it anyway. The door was about 30 years old. We got an estimate for the door from Bus #1 and the work on the trim from Bus #2. She then went and got an estimate for the door and trim from Bus #1. Her estimate for all the work was about $200 higher than our estimate but we decided to credit her for the estimate amount she received. We issued her a credit for $3869 to get the door repaired. Drywall: Previously, she sent us a photo of the drywall that was cracked, I emailed her back asking for more information about where the wall was. She responded and described an area we didn't work on, drywall we didn't replace or patch. [email attached]Bathroom floor: We did have some issues with the tiling on her bathroom floor come up. We've worked with the subcontractor [redacted] many times in the past. The CONS came to us after the bathroom was gutted then tiled and said she had a problem with the floor. I went out to meet with her and take a look at the job. She was right and I agreed with her. So, we reordered the tiles at our expense and I sent the contractor back out there to redo the work. Again she contacted me and let me know the work wasn't satisfactory. Again, I went out to check and she was right. The tiles were warped and weren't laying flat. I contacted the contractor and he said that this time he did the work personally, made sure everything was level and that the work was high quality. I went back to inspect them and the tiles looked like someone had walked out over them. I also noticed a dog in the bathroom, it was afraid of people, and considered that the dog had walked out over the tiles before they'd set. Release permits: As soon as we decided to halt the job we contacted the CONS. Immediately after getting off the phone with her, I contacted our project manager and had him contact St. Louis County so that they could release the permits. The permits were released almost immediately. She found a contractor to work on her property almost immediately, he was working by that weekend. The county sent an inspector to the home to conduct a final inspection, then they released the permits, this was done by Friday. [Inspection in email attached]Electrician: We had a licensed electrician do the rough work on her property. A St. Louis County Inspector came to check the work and determined it was satisfactory. Then CONS determined she didn't think it was satisfactory. She called to tell us that she hired another electrician to work on her property, that he too determined the quality of the electrical work was poor. However, having another electrician working on the property would have been a violation of code. There was a permit hanging on the door so no licensed electrician should walk in and perform any work because there's a responsible party assigned. It's a safety and fire code issue. This was after we'd had it inspected so it would have to be re-inspected. I told her all of this and then asked her what, specifically, he'd worked on. She then said he had only hung a chandelier for her.  Itemized bill: We sent her a total, itemized reconciliation several times. We've had this issue with her a number of times, where she's said she didn't receive paperwork and it turns out she had. I'll send a copy of the letter and document I sent her on 10/13/17.
