I purchased a 2014 GMC Terrain from RT Auto Sales and Service on December 28th, 2019, the vehicle was paid in full that day. I was mailed the vehicles title, when I received the title the sellers name was different from who I purchased it from, also the purchased date written on it is not the date of my purchase. I called my local DVS office and questioned about this they advised me to send the title back because it needs the correct sellers information, DVS advises this could possibly be a case of jumping/skipping titles. When I email the seller questioning about the title status, I am giving the response of “call me, I am not paying the taxes to transfer titles” . It has now been 2 months and the title still has yet to be transferred. When I purchased this vehicle through this company I assumed the cost to transfer was included in the selling price. I was never made aware I would have to pay, nor was I informed the title was in someone else’s name other than the business I purchased from.
The car was a consignment car and not owned by RT Auto Sales. The business gave the consumer the title when the car was paid for in full. Consumer needs to take care of title work.
