RTP Auto Sales Inc. Reviews (1)

I purchased a car from this dealer. The car ran for 1 week and has not since. The owner told me to tow it to his mechanic. That was 3 months ago. I purchased a 1997 Acura CL for $3000 on 3-6-2014. The owner of the dealership said that it was in great condition mechanically. He said he was going to send it to his mechanic that day to look everything over and I could pick it up the next morning. I picked up the car and it ran good for a little over a week. The first problem was the brake lines. I had a few mechanics look at the car, but they didn't want to touch the car because they said the underside of the car was too rusted out. I found a man who fixed the brake lines for me. This man did warn me that the fuel tank was extremely rusted and would start getting holes in it. I could walk around the rear of the car and the odor of gasoline was strong, like being at a gas station. The car ran a couple of days after that, then another problem with the engine occurred. The car hasn't ran since then, and that was before the 30 day tags came in! I kept calling the dealership leaving messages and no one EVER called me back. I had a friend drive me up to the dealership. The owner told me to tow the car to his mechanic at [redacted]. He said he would split the cost with me. I had my car towed to [redacted] a little over a week after that. They said they would call me when they found out what was wrong with the car. I waited about a week and I called up there. A man answered, I asked about my car and he said another man named [redacted] was the one that worked on all the cars from RTP Auto, but he wasn't in. I left a message to have him call me. I never got a call back from anyone. I have been calling repeatedly to the mechanic and the dealership, with NO CALL BACK FROM ANYONE IN ALMOST 3 MONTHS!!! I had a friend come with me to check on my car 3 weeks ago. It was sitting in the lot, in the middle of so many other cars. No one had done any work on my car yet. I tried to confront the man in the shop and he closed the bay doors on us. We stood outside taking pictures of all the dirty mess surrounding the area. While we were taking pictures, another employee arrived. We asked for his help with our matter. I have most of the conversation on video. He said [redacted] was who we had to speak with, and he was busy taking his mom to the doctor. This man also admitted that my car wasn't getting worked on because they were busy working on cars they would get paid for. I asked him why he thought he wasn't going to get paid? He told me to take it up with RTP Auto. Then he told us to leave. RTP Auto has absolutely stolen $3000+ from me. In the mean time I've been left for months trying to find rides to places I have to go, or my small children want to go. This man thinks he can do anything he wants and get away with it.Desired SettlementI want the $3000 back for the lemon he sold me. Business Response At RTP Auto Sales Inc, positive and negative feedback is welcomed. It helps us grow and provide better customer service along the way. We regret that Mrs. [redacted] has had to go through this ordeal. Mrs. [redacted] came to our dealership and stated she was in great need of a vehicle; our sole purpose was to help her out. We had the vehicle she purchased listed at 4,000, and was sold to her at 2,600, and 400 was for dealer fees. Mrs. [redacted] did not have enough money to purchase her tags, we went and purchased them for her with the agreement that she would pay RTP Auto Sales at a later date. We had not heard from Mrs. [redacted] until it was time to pay for her tags. She stated the car was having problems, we advised her to take it to our mechanic; [redacted]. Mrs. [redacted] was fully aware the vehicle was purchased AS-IS which meant RTP was not responsible for cost of repairs but we agreed to help her with half of the cost. A number of events happened after that, that were very disturbing on her behalf. The mechanic asked for Mrs. [redacted] to bring in a new battery to install on the vehicle and would do his best to work with her on getting the vehicle up and running. Consumer Response RTP paid for the tags because they said they felt badly for what had happened with the car. There was no agreement that I needed to pay them back at a later date. Furthermore they stated in their response that they had not heard from me. I had been calling the dealership almost daily trying to speak with someone. No one answered my calls or returned my messages for almost one month. I had to get a friend to drive me out there before I was able to speak with someone. It was at that time that the owner of RTP told me to bring the car to his cousin's auto repair shop. He said he would pay half of the repairs. I had my car towed to [redacted] shortly after that. I spoke to [redacted] at [redacted] about the car during the first week my car was at the lot. After that conversation, I kept calling both RTP and the repair shop for 2 months without anyone answering the phone or returning my calls! I don't know what they are implying when they stated that there were a "number of events that were very disturbing" on my behalf. Both encounters I had with these "professionals" have been video taped for my protection. So I would advise them to be very careful about slandering me and what has happened. RTP Auto sold me a flood damaged car, knowing it to be a flood damaged car. He was fully aware at the time of purchase that the car was not safe to drive, it was completely rusted out on the under carriage to the point that more than one mechanic advised me not to put a lot of weight in the car. Also the fuel line and tank is so rusted it is about to rust all the way through, creating holes and causing threat of fire while I drive down the road with my children and small infant.I still want to request a trade for a different "non-flood damaged" car even if it is a much cheaper car.Final Business Response The customer was aware she was purchasing a salvage title vehicle. There is no "flood damage" which states so in the car fax and we have the damage disclosure statement signed by the customer. This was an AS-IS cash transaction, no warranty. She test drove the vehicle and was fully aware of the condition and status of the vehicle. The customer should proceed in getting in contact with the repair shop.More info received from the consumer XXXX-XX-XXThis case is getting ready to go to litigation. I have retained an attorney who believes that RTP Auto Sales has fraudulently made untrue declarations, as well as breaking verbal contracts several times. When we finish litigation, I will post what happened. In the meantime, I hope anyone who is dealing with this car lot that might stumble across this complaint, I beg of you to have a trusted mechanic check out every inch of the automobile you're thinking of purchasing. It breaks my heart that there are scam artists like this that prey on our neighbors and friends just so they can make a few bucks. I guess this is why the stereotype about slimy used car salesmen stays afloat!
