Claimed to Be a a Licensed Professional Roofer and Chimney Repair Business But Was Neither I hired this so-called company from a craigs list ad where he claimed to be an expert chimney/roof repair company with experience since 1996, highly rated on [redacted], and offers a 3 year warranty on all work. My chimney needed some siding replaced due to brown stains along the sides of the chimney and whatever leak was in my chimney causing the stains. He told me he would replace 23 siding boards and install a brand new metal pan on the top of the chimney since that was what was causing my chimney stains.Turns out he gave me phony references from friends or family of his. Well, what he did was install a few siding boards, some of them upside down and did not even paint entirely the siding with the house paint I provided. 14 months later, I hired a professional roofer to find the cause of some kitchen ceiling stains I started noticing after a rain storm and was informed the last person who worked on my chimney did not take off the metal top pan that was defective, he simply nailed on a new partial pan in pieces over the old pan. This man's laziness, deceit, and downright fraud is now causing me thousand of dollars to replace the part of the roof now ruined by the leaks caused by his not doing what I paid him $525 to do. I have since found out he is not licensed, gives a false address for his business, and has scammed others as well by over-posting his "business" on craigs list using 2 different company names. At the very least I want the $525 that I paid this man back because now I have to spend thousands to repair what he caused by scamming me! I would be terrified to let this man do anything else to my house with his so-called warranty! Desired SettlementFull refund of the $525 I paid him, at the very least!Consumer Response Business owner called me several times and left nasty messages on my answering machine. Said he does not care about the Revdex.com since he gets most of his jobs from word of mouth. He used disturbing profanity in his messages which I will not repeat here. Very barbaric, unprofessional.Business Response For the record I provide great customer service I make sure everyone that hired me gets more then the best I did Ms [redacted] job almost 2 years ago she was more the pleased I 're siding her entire chimney pust new corner boards and painted it when I was there I told her that her roof was completely shot the singles where very old way past due she said she dnt have the money to do the roof I felt bad for this women so I did her chimney for $500.00 very cheap like I said this was two years ago so if it took you this long to complain plus you never even call me to let me know there was a problem plus if you wa s to tell the real truth I was only tryin to help this customer out & this is the thanks I get out of all the 1000 repairs I've done some people you just cant help I guess I cant make everybody happy cause I go the extra mile for people I do anything I can to please the homeowners so you can you please stop slandering my name for no reason at all thanks the owner of RTP Roofing & Siding [redacted]Consumer Response I don't lie. This guy did a very poor job and actually hurt my chimney more than he helped it. It was discovered 14 months after he completed his "work" (not 2 years) only because I do not have the ability to get up on rooftops and inspect the roofer's work. I rely on their word when they say their workmanship is high quality and solved the problem which I hired him for. The leakage from his patchwork job, not sealing everything up, and not installing the new chimney cover that I paid for, promoted very slow stress leaks from my chimney into my roof. The new chimney/roofer guy even took pictures of the awful job this guy did from atop the chimney and the resulting leak stains on the plywood inside my attic. After seeing that, I was not about to have this guy come back and do work for me again! However, it does not seem to do any good to complain here though since as soon as he replies with his version, Revdex.com changes the rating back. And like I said before, he called and left profane messages on my answering machine and told me to take my Revdex.com complaint and shove it up my [redacted]. At this point all I can do is encourage everyone to check his reviews on Angie's list, OSHA, and other certifications which he claims to have but does not, and make him show proof of insurance and real references which are also questionable so as not to get fooled like I was. A lesson learned the hard way!
