First and foremost, RTT Contracting, Inc. is based in Brooklyn, NY. All of the work completed by RTT is in Brooklyn or the five boroughs. RTT Contracting does not solicit business outside of NYC especially Suffolk County. This job was a referral request made by [redacted] to [redacted]...

daughter of [redacted]; after a previous contractor refused to continue work on [redacted]’s property. When the contract was presented to [redacted], he did not ask [redacted] if he was licensed in Suffolk County. If the license was brought up during the initial communication, [redacted] would state that he is not licensed in Suffolk County. [redacted] was unaware he was required to have an additional license for Suffolk County separately, respectively. He in no way tried to deceive [redacted]. [redacted] only agreed to do the job as a favor for his daughter, [redacted] was more than accommodating to their constant changing needs. From March of 2015, all additional work completed was an out of pocket expense by [redacted]. $3,000.00 was the last amount paid by [redacted] in December. April *, was the last date [redacted] did work on the property. After a complete day of work, [redacted] told [redacted] to go to the bank and get $10,000; [redacted] refused then, [redacted] told [redacted] to bring back $9,000.00 or [redacted] would call the police. Due to [redacted]’s threating nature [redacted] no long felt safe working for [redacted] even after he completed additional work around his house multiple times for free (see contract for additional work). [redacted] began harassing [redacted] at the work place and asked her for $8,000.00. I, [redacted] (another daughter of [redacted]), contacted [redacted] for his email address and then [redacted] requested $7,500.00. These amounts are not only baseless but an extortion attempt on [redacted]&rsqu o;s part. [redacted] at no point agreed to give [redacted] $5,000.00. Please review the following issues: 1. The kitchen island and cabinets were ordered simultaneously, once the cabinets were installed, the island was placed in not installed yet, the owners said it was too big and they wanted it cut down 9 inches. [redacted] gave them the measurements beforehand, they wanted the same measurements as the kitchen table they had in the kitchen. He then brought the island back to Brooklyn and had it cut, brought it back to Long Island and installed it on April [redacted]. [redacted] was there with his worker the entire day. [redacted] was also there the entire day while the work was being completed. He never said he didn't like the placement of the island or that he was unhappy with the positioning or that the work was shoddy. At 4 pm [redacted] told [redacted] it was the end of the work day and he wanted [redacted] to go to the bank and get $10,000.00, [redacted] disagreed then [redacted] wanted $9,000.00 or he would call the police. [redacted] then left the property. 2. The laundry area was damaged from the dryer exhaust pipe which [redacted] cleaned out and repaired. 3. The bathroom toilet was positioned on and installed in 2 different locations before [redacted] agreed on the 3rd location in the bathroom. 4. The bricks for the driveway were brought to the property to be placed. It was [redacted] who didn't want it installed then and wanted the driveway completed in the spring, when the weather was better. [redacted] sent a text message to [redacted] and stated he no longer wanted the driveway to be completed and he wanted $2,000.00. 5. The sliding door, there wasn't enough room to have that put in which was explained to [redacted] and his spouse. 6. The floor tiles which were mentioned in the second contract was completely installed for two weeks when the owners decided they didn't like them and wanted them changed. In December of 2014, [redacted], informed [redacted] he would be leaving to Florida for a personal matter and would return in January 2015. He did not leave the job unexpectedly without notice. After the second contract was completed with a breakdown of additional expenses, [redacted] agreed to pay $1,050.00, not charging the full amount of the tile work. Since [redacted] refused that amount, I now am charging the full amount for the tile work. Thank you in advance to your attention to this matter.

RTT contracting is not licensed in Suffolk County and performed work that was unprofessional and sloppy.  The response given by the [redacted] is someone who was not present at my home and whom I never death with between August 2014 and March 2015. There are many false pieces of information in her responses and language that uses the words threatening, extortion, and harassing-all in an attempt to confuse matters in order that she and the company not pay what is owed to me. I can provide you testimony from a second licensed contractor that has described the work of RTT Contracting Inc. and [redacted] as extremely unprofessional and sloppy. I can provide you with the email text pleading with [redacted] to end his abandoning of the project in February 2015. I have witnesses that can account for his offering of 5000 dollars on the last day of work he performed in front of my property on March [redacted] 2015, and not 4/*/15 as his daughter states. I received a response from her representing RTT Contracting Inc on 4/*/2015 after he left us-something which she calls a second contract I never saw until AFTER he left us for good. He has proven himself to take shortcuts, not to adequately supervise his employees, miscalculating measurements related to the kitchen island-measurements he took but delivered the wrong size dimensions and leaving inadequate leg room. He has misrepresented his work and the quality of the merchandise-as evidenced by the chipped tiles in the kitchen that he from day one was informed we would not accept and he found just hard to replace when extra chips formed day by day. He attempted to deceive us by promising new kitchen island base cabinet with different measurement and was found to use the same one he placed initially which he knew we would not accept due to his own miscalculation. he tried to deceive us a second time by hiding a wide hole in the wall of the bathroom with exposed electrical wiring without enclosing in a box behind the bathroom vanity. He said he was licensed in suffolk county when he was not-we asked this on the first day we met him. I challenge them to show proof of any email text they state I made in December where I requested a sum of 2000 dollars back for them not completing the driveway. Their response is contains false information, inaccurate dates, and just anything that would confuse the matter in their favor. I paid 30000 dollars and an extra 4000 dollars to cover all expenses he and I agreed were fully paid including the driveway and kitchen island which he did not install or complete as promised. He owes me a total of 10000 dollars and I went to 9000 dollars after he said he would give back 5000 dollars. I also want my brick pavers back that he purchased with my money. I have not recieved any refund back including the 1050 dollars they mentioned in their 4/*/2015 response.

In response to [redacted]'s response pertaining to the contracting work, [redacted] DID work on [redacted]'s property on April *, 2015. I have a receipt showing the date when [redacted] picked up the island. It is [redacted] who is stating erroneous information and withholding information pertaining to his threating nature towards [redacted] on the first of April. [redacted] in no way abandoned this job. This year was a very harsh winter and the weather only improved mid-March, when [redacted] went back to the property. Once [redacted] explained to me, the entire situation where [redacted] demanded money, I provided a second contract detailing the cost for ALL the additional work [redacted] had requested to be done on his property. I also have the original measurements of the island, which was requested by [redacted] to be the exact measurements of the kitchen table they have in place there. As I personally already stated, RTT is NOT licensed in Suffolk County, nor di d [redacted] ever asked such information. RTT DOES NOT SOLICITE ANY BUSSINESS IN SUFFOLK COUNTY, AND THIS WAS ONLY DONE AS A FAMILY REQUEST. The request for $2000.00 was made in January for the driveway which [redacted] DID NOT WANT COMPLETED. [redacted] was never originally charged for the tile work. The second contract was provided to [redacted] showing he would recover $1050.00, with a discount for the tile work. [redacted] then hired an attorney who send a demand letter for $15,000.00 which is a baseless amount. The original $1050.00 is off the table. [redacted] owes me money for the tile work. [redacted] never offered [redacted] $5,000.00. The bricks which were purchased was for the sole intent of installing the bricks, since [redacted] did not want the work completed, the bricks which I purchased are my property. I will not negotiate any dollar amount to [redacted]. I DO NOT OWE HIM ANY MONEY.

This is a kitchen island INDOORS and was delivered with wrong measurements (leaving no adequate leg room which was specified repeatedly to [redacted]-the contractor). RTT Contracting Inc. abandoned the project for several months without notifying the homeowners. I send a cell phone text pleading to [redacted]/RTT Contracting Inc. in February 2015 to return to complete the work that he neglected to complete for us. He left us no choice but to hire a second contractor who described the work of RTT Contracting Inc and [redacted] as "SLOPPY and UNPROFESSIONAL.". The original contract called for the installation of a driveway which was not completed and a refund was not paid to the homeowner. Having performed unlicensed work in Suffolk County-when it was his responsibility to be licensed where he works-and answering that he was licensed was a deceptive action as well as their deception in hiding a wide hole behind the bathroom vanity with exposed electrical wiring that was not enclosed as well as providing a kitchen island with wrong measurements that [redacted] personally took. RTT Contracting Inc. and [redacted] even failed to show up at an administrative hearing ordered by Suffolk County Consumer Affairs Department. As an Unlicensed contractor-he let us know that he was licensed when it turned out that he wasn't. He abandoned the project for several months without notifying us of a long absence during which he did not complete the kitchen island which was an indoor project-irrespective of the weather. A second contract was electronically sent after [redacted] left for good-no customer should receive a second contract after the fact-It goes against any decency and fairness to homeowners everywhere to be given what they call a second contract after they left us for good that goes against his oral agreements.  It is our hope that NYC Consumer Affairs Department will review the actions of RTT Contracting Inc. and [redacted] before any renewal of his NYC license. It is our hope that NYC Consumers Affairs Department also review RTT Contracting Inc. and their business contract (at least the one given to me) which fails to provide the basics required of any contractor in NYS-something he will have to be accountable for. [redacted] is currently being evaluated by the Suffolk County Consumer Affairs Department for fines and violations for being unlicensed and not abiding by some regulations of the NYS General Business Laws for home renovations. Homeowners deserve better and contractors like [redacted] will need to face penalties for their actions.

Review: RTT Contracting Inc. ([redacted]) was contracted to complete renovations of our kitchen, laundry room and bathroom, as well as install a driveway and kitchen island. The contractor's workmanship was shoddy and of poor quality. I had to hire a second contractor to repair the work done by RTT Contracting Inc. which was described as "extremely unprofessional and sloppy." Would never hire RTT Contracting Inc. or [redacted].Desired Settlement: refund cost of driveway (8000 dollars) and kitchen island (1500 dollars). Driveway was not completed (brick pavers laid in front of garage from August 2014 to March 2015)-purchased and planned but not completed by end of March 2015 when contractor left. Kitchen island not the measurements we were promised leaving no adequate leg room. Homeowners cannot be responsible for the faulty measurements of contractor. Note that the above is separate from the extra cost I needed to pay 2nd contractor.

Homeowners deserve better and contractors like [redacted] will need to face penalties for their actions.
