I came to the shop because my Chevy Trailblazer needed repairs. Last year I did business with these individuals because there was a check engine light on and I needed to retest for emissions. So, they resolved the issues that I was having. No issue.
However, on Saturday October 17, 2015 I came into the shop after speaking with Bill who gave me an appointment on Friday to come in on Saturday morning. As I was at the front desk Jim and I spoke about things that I wanted repaired and I clearly indicated to him that I wanted to apply for their Auto financing because I had no money to pay for ANY services that they may render. In addition to this being an unforeseen circumstance. He said fine, and then we went ahead and proceeded to process an application. Once completed I asked, how long does it normally take for a response to generate and he stated, between 30-45 mins. So I waited for about 10-15 mins. and I stated to Jim I was going to go home and get a tire that I had I wanted my rim swapped to the tire that I had to replace. He said no problem. After about 15 mins. Jim called me to tell me that the Finance department had approved me for the loan and the good news was that the amount was $2,000. Therefore, I told him that after I load up the tire at which I would like for you to take the rim from I would be on my way back to the shop. My son and I arrived and Jim asked me some additional questions about the car. Like was there anything else at which I wanted to address and I said some additional concerns and everything seemed okay. He gave me keys to a 09 Ford Focus a loaner and, told me that he would call me if needed, we shook hands, I thanked them and my son and I left.
On Tuesday October 20, 2015 around 9 am, I received a call from Jim stating that the costs of the repairs were going to exceed my loan amount that I was approved for. I stated, by how much and he stated, roughly around three-hundred and fifty dollars. Before I could say anything he stated, well let me see if they could extend your loan for you. Let me call the Finance company and speak with them. He hung up, then about 10-15 mins. later he called back stating that there was something going on and my loan was pending. In disbelief, I was like excuse me. From there he stated that my loan was never approved. I questioned him, how is it that my loan was never approved but on Saturday you not only stated that I was approved but also that I was approved for $2,000. In addition, today is Tuesday why would they forego the entire day on Monday to tell me this today. He stated that I needed to call the finance company and speak with someone named Nikki because there was a mix up somehow, he never responded to why no one called me on Monday regarding the unapproved application. Therefore, I called the number he gave me right away; I was able to get in touch with Nikki only to hear that they were sorry. There was some type of mix up and they were not able to approve me for financing. When I asked Nikki why? She only stated that she didn’t know, and then said because of delinquencies within my credit report. However, she couldn’t tell me how was it that I was approved and quoted an approval amount, or why no one contacted me on Monday regarding this mishap.
