In response to Mr [redacted] ’s claims against Rudy Schmid and Rust Check, here are the warranty claim items Rudy Schmid has honored on his [redacted] .The rear bumper has been replaced, as a good-faith gesture, even though the warranty states that bumpers are not covered.Both front fenders have been replaced The rust damage was not a product failure, but a result of the mounting screws that Mr [redacted] used to install aftermarket mud guards.Both rear inner wheel wells in the pickup bed area were repaired, even though the manufacturer, ***, has no splash protection panels under the openings This manufacturer design led to metal deterioration from road debris, not lack of corrosion inhibitor or improper application of the productWe also repaired the exterior rust on both box side panels where Mr [redacted] installed rear mud guards, having the same effect as the front fender mudguards.We feel that we have honored the warranty and done as much as we could; with the value of the repairs exceeding the cost for the rustproofing.So, in partnership with RustCheck corporate, we ask that Mr [redacted] schedule a re-inspection of the vehicle, and if it passes corporate inspection, that the warranty will be reinstated.Sincerely,PJ SPresidentRudy Schmid Inc., Total Car Care

The vehicle was in our shop for body repairs to the left fender and left front doorThe vehicle was moved around the shop as needed between body and refinish repairsAs we moved the vehicle into the wash bay to clean it for delivery, one of our techs noticed that the brake pedal felt soft as
she applied the brakesWe informed the customer of our concerns with the brakes, and she agreed to have us look at the brakes before she picked up the vehicleOur first thought was that a brake fluid line had started to leak due to the age of the vehicleWhen we put the vehicle up on the lift, we found no leaking brake linesWe then proceeded to inspect the rest of the brake partsWe found that all four rotors had excessive rust on the inside face of the rotors(This will cause a brake pedal to feel lower than usual due to a poor surface for the brake pad to contact)We checked the brake calipers for proper function, and found the left rear brake caliper had malfunctioned and was no longer working(This will also cause a low brake pedal due to the fact that the caliper is not applying the right pressure to the rotor)We also noted that the brakes appeared to have been worked on recently (possibly within the last months)We found that the right outer tie rod end was worn out, and noted that the vehicle would need an alignment after the tie rod was replacedThis inspection was performed at no charge to the customerThe estimate that was presented to her was for the cost of repairs, if she wanted us to do themWe suggested to the customer that she may want to go back to the people who repaired the brakes beforeWe did not do anything to Cassandra Lee Spears vehicle while it was in our possession to effect the brakesAll of these issues were already thereThe caliper can fail at any time, and it just happened to be here when it occurred.
