First, you haven't made any offer to settle this. We were under time constraints and took it to another transmission company. They are the ones who were through their experience in the industry able to assess what was done to the transmission and the type of parts used to rebuild it. They stated through what they could see they could tell what parts were replaced and what parts from your invoice were new or used parts. You were caught providing a transmission fix instead of the rebuilding that you promised and I paid for.  On top of that you wanted to charge me again to do warranty work which should be covered under your warranty. The other transmission company confirmed that a complete rebuild would not require any servicing and this is just a ploy by you to get out of the warranty. Again, do not use this company Ruffin Transmission. It is one thing to rip people off and not do the work, but to try and charge them again for the same work that is ridiculous. This guy wanted to charge me $2500.00 to fix the transmission again. Thank goodness we took it to a reputable company that can give us the truth about what was done before and fix it.  By the way, nice of you to lie and make up all that about talking to a mechanic who suppose to take care of the vehicle. The people you talk to are a separate company and don't have anything to do with the maintenance of the vehicle, so they wouldn't have told you anything like you claim. On top of all that learn how to write and spell.

Review: Complainant took an Izuzu 2005 NPR to Ruffner Transmissions (RT) for diagnose of transmission. RT stated that the transmission needed a total rebuild. Complainant paid for a rebuild of transmission with 2yr unlimited mileage warranty, RT's invoice #1057 for $3006.35. Within warranty period and within mileage allotment said transmission failed. RT was contacted about the failure of the transmission. RT took a quick look at truck and transmission at Complainant's place of business, and said it would be an additional $2500 to repair. RT declined to honor the warranty of the original work stating the transmission had not been serviced. Under the terms of the invoice that the RT gave the Complainant it states that transmission must be serviced "one a year". A year did not go past before failure of transmission nor did the mileage. Only 5709 miles were put on the truck, so no servicing of vehicle was done.

Original service of vehicle 3/20/14, the first call about transmission failure 10/1/14. It took RT a couple of weeks to come see truck. When RT did look at the truck he commented that he was so busy, he would have to charge to fix the vehicle $2500.00.

Complainant had one company remove transmission and another repair the transmission on the bench as the vehicle was not drivable.

North County and Gear & Transmission (NCGT) repaired the transmission. NCGT stated that RT did not do a complete rebuild and the parts he did replace were used parts not new parts.

Complainant is only seeking the costs of repairing the transmission, even though, it is apparent that the original work was not a rebuilt transmission but only a repair. The amount of the invoice was confirmed by NCGT as could only be for a rebuilt transmission.

Complainant contacted the RT to do the warranty work. RT refused to do warranty work and said " sue me ".Desired Settlement: We are asking for the money paid to repair, remove, replace the transmission that the Ruffner Transmission did not do correctly. North County Gear and Transmission invoice $1380.00. G&K invoice $900. Total $2280.00

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID[redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

The work was done on 3/23/13 with a two year warranty. We contacted 10/1/14 about the problems. The first year the truck wasn't even being used. It is only in the the last six months before the problems occurred did we switch the beds on the truck and use the truck. As for the weight, the original truck had a full box with a metal flooring and the truck was switched to a stake bed a significant reduction on weight. There was no over loading as these are work trucks and have a high capacity. We had the work done at another transmission company and they flat out said that this is scam. Ruffner transmission did not rebuild the transmission and that is why the transmission went out.
