I have needed to use the services of Gary Basten Construction twice in the past ten years The most recent episode was this past spring From the time when Matt evaluated our basement wall that had developed a large crack to the completion of the work by Russ and his crew, I have nothing but good things to say The work was completed in a timely manner and everyone was very professional I have referred their work to three of my friends who were equally impressed I would recommend Gary *** in a heart beat if asked again*** ** ***

We have been using Gary Basten Construction for a number of years now for projects around the house and at church They are my “go-to” contractors for any project, large or small In fact, I don’t even bother getting other bids as I know that theirs will be fair and honest Matt always comes out to discuss the project, offering ideas to either enhance the project, or ways of saving money…and estimates are always freeTheir crews have been extremely professional, and my wife loves the fact that they clean up after themselves! I have gone with “discount” contractors in the past…you know…the ones who do contract work on the side…and have been disappointed with the quality With Gary Basten Construction, I never have to worry about whether the job will get done right or on time…and best of all…they stand behind their work!
One subcontractor accidentally drilled a hole through our basement wall and into the pool filter outside Another subcontractor moved some existing plumbing and left a solder joint with a pinhole leak in it No one answers the phone at Basten office so I had replaced the pool equipment myself and had a plumber repair the leak Reported this to *** (owner) Gave her copies of my out of pocket costs She was very apologetic and promised to look into the matter After three weeks of no response I called the job foreman He said that the sub has been too busy to talk to him about it He'll look into it It's been a month and I don't get the courtesy of a call or e-mail Next step is to file in small claims Very unfortunate This is a highly rated company
My gratitude and appreciation to the entire crew The job was completed quickly and efficiently They worked quite well Everyone was always courteous and cooperative, even as I expressed how “if were me, I’d do it this way”
I strongly recommend Basten Construction We had a drain in our driveway that had sunk in such a manner that water (and thus ice) was pooling around itWe also had a leak in our basement I was impressed with Matt when he came to do the estimate, because he seemed to know exactly how to fix the problems He raised concerns about "matching" the drivewayHe wanted to be sure I would be happy with how it would lookRainy weather delayed the project, but they kept me informed When they came to do the project, it became apparent that they would not need to tear out as much concrete as Matt had originally predicted They could have done the project as bid and made more money Instead we saved a lot of money and the driveway looks great and works great The basement leak proved to have more rot then anticipated, costing a bit more to repair the damage, but no delays in fixing itIt too looks great and works great One more item that really impressed me It became apparent that there was another issue with the drainOnce again, Matt could have just done the proposal as bid, but he wanted to solve our problems with the drain He took the time to find the problem, found competent people to fix it and without any delay The workmen were not only friendly, but also and, more importantly, knowledgeable, experienced and thinking peopleThey were solving problems not just doing a job I could not be happier about the whole experience
