It,s not a good outcome for anyone when a job has to be left unfinishedI am out cost of materials and labor, the customer has an unfinished job, and no one is happy I got into this business to make people happyUnfortunately now and then you come acrossPeople who misrepresent the truth to
save a few dollars, and unfortunately this is exactly what *** is doing .she has made several falseClaims in her note below .first project was to finish a custom shower job that was partially completed by another contractor that walked off the job here is a list of the representations by *** about our second job together , which she refers to below the price we shook hands on what not I did not or have I ever changed the agreed upon bid price .that would be dishonest and I pride my business on honestyTimeline she claims weeksWe started work at her house march th and had of the jobs done by March .that is not three weeks job scope she claims it was a small tile job .it was in fact floor tiling for four rooms bathrooms, laundry room and loft in which we had to demo the floor, remove the fixtures, and put everything back in its place We complete all of this work except for one bathroom.this was not a small tile job We also did a lot of small favors for her I agreed to no money up front but that does not mean no money until the end of the job .I asked her for halfway through the job after having spent on materials plus labor and she gave me two days later she claims I asked for which was not true .after I partial payment,I told her we would continue working on Monday to finish the fourth of three rooms if she provided another check for she then said that we need to talk and at that point it became clear that she was not going to pay us in a timely manner .we are truly disappointed with not being able to finish the job for her .we are five star company and will continue to be five star company sincerely *** ***

Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:
It is true that it is never good when a contractor leaves a job incomplete, how is it that a business owner like [redacted] cannot iron out an issues with a customer that is as simple as setting the right expectations of work and money upfront. Regardless, [redacted] was hired primarily for a tile job for only 3 small rooms totaling less than 200 square feet. Yes, it is true that all homeowners want to save money but not at the cost of a home improvement job that is well done and done in a timely fashion. [redacted]’s prices are 1/3 higher than the average contactor. As a matter of fact, I had to hire a new contractor to finish the job that [redacted] walked out on, and this contractor did an amazing job for a fraction of the cost of [redacted]’s verbal bid. [redacted] says, “I spent 1200.00 on materials plus labor and requested $1500 after job was half complete” this is not true as I mentioned [redacted] did complete the job. For example, the room that he speaks that he completed he did not connect the water pipe, nor did he put the base board back in place, nor did he start construction on the third room, etc. [redacted] says, “after I partial payment, I told her we would continue working on Monday to finish the fourth of three rooms if she provided another check for $1000.00 she then said that we need to talk and at that point it became clear that she was not going to pay us in a timely manner.” This is also a lie, I have worked with contactors over the 17 years I’ve owned my home and paid more than $30.000 in home improvement projects, never has anyone complained that they did not receive their money nor was I ever late with a payment on a home improvement project. In fact, my fiancé works for the Aurora police department and he would never condone that type of behavior. In addition, he was a witness to the many conversations that I mention in this report and can verify my conversation with [redacted]. [redacted] says, “I did a lot of small favors” [redacted] did not complete the job that he was hired to do, so why would he expect that anyone would believe that he did small favors, this is ridiculous! Lastly, the agreement was that [redacted] complete the job that he was hired to do and no payment would be expected from me to him until the job was complete. I only gave [redacted] a partial payment in good faith as we never had any agreement that I would pay anything upfront. Out of all the contractors that I’ve done business with over the years, this would be my first time paying anything upfront as many of the contactors that I’ve done business with have the capital to do the job without asking for money every few days. I feel that [redacted] took advantage of me as a female homeowner, and since he did not complete the job he should return the fee that I paid.  Again, its guys like [redacted] that give contractors a bad name and make homeowners leery of trusting someone to come into their homes.           Sincerely,
[redacted]
