Russ's Tree Service Reviews (2)

The quote I first got was ok then I order again and the bill was higher and I asked why and they said they had to travel extra but I was charged $30.00 for deliver and now it $40.00 and I was only 15 min away. I will not order from them again thanks for the quote.

Review: My husband and I got an estimate from Russ's Tree Service for the removal of 2-3 trees and possible branch trimming. We also got estimates for the stump removal. We ended up getting 2 trees removed and had some branch trimming done. Our bill was sent to us incorrectly, as they charged us for 3 trees being removed. We got that resolved, but then we had an issue with stump removal. They came and did the stump removal, but we were in charge of removing the debris. I was doing so with one of the trees, and the stump is only 2 inches below the ground. We called the business and asked how far they typically dig out stumps. We were told 6-8 inches, and then proceeded to inform the woman that ours was only 2 inches below the ground. We were told that someone would come look at it. [redacted] called us and told us that it would cost more to grind the stump further, but he would come look at it. It is not ground down to the amount that is was supposed to be originally. We have called three times for them to come look at it, and keep getting told that they are busy and will probably be out sometime this week. We just want them to grind the stump down to what we paid for, and what is typical for most companies to do. We want this to be over so that we can plant something there. Also, [redacted] called us "cheap" because he cut up some large logs in our yard that we did not want him to, and charged us for it. We refuted the charges, and were called "cheap", but told him that we were saving the logs for projects, and he didn't ask our permission to cut them up.Desired Settlement: We want the stump ground down to 6-8 inches which is the typical amount done by tree removal services. We want this to be done in a timely manner, as they have delayed responding to us for weeks. We also want them to clean up the grindings.

Dear [redacted]:

I am more than happy to provide my feedback on this complaint. I first want to
say that this was definitely a communication problem, and apologized that I had
sent them an incorrect invoice and the stump wasn't ground deep enough. I
inadvertantly charged them for an additional tree that was written on the
proposal that I was taking the information from. I apologize for that.
As far as the stump goes, it was not ground deep enough. We have a new
employee and sometimes stuff like this happens. We were notified and said that
we would come and take care of it. We are a seasonal company and are very
busy. [redacted] called and asked if they would move the wood so that
he could get the stump grinder in to grind the stump. [redacted] told him to go
ahead and cut up the wood at that time. [redacted] did that. When [redacted] saw
that the wood was cut UPI he asked him why he cut up the wood, and that they
didn't want the wood cut up cause they were using it for a project. [redacted] told him
that he was only doing what he was told and that he was not going to charge him
the $30.00 that was on the estimate sheet (again communication). [redacted] was not
happy with that and made mention about cutting up the wood again, which [redacted]
konkel had asked him to do. [redacted] mentioned to him that he took a few extra
branches off one of his trees that he wanted trimmed, at which time [redacted] said,
don"t you think thars being a little cheap, as [redacted] did some extra work.
hat's being a little cheap as [redacted] did some extra work.
The proposal that was submitted to the [redacted] resident was to leave the
Grindings from the stump. This was done. The grindings were left. I have
explained this to the best of my knowledge and hope this can be resolved.
I totally believe that this was clearly a communication issue. We are sorry that
this happened. To resolve this problem, I will take off $30.00 from the $130.00
that they owe us. We will not come and remove the grindings. If they want us to
remove the grindings, there is an extra charge for that.
