Please accept our apology You stated in the complaint that you were staying in cabin 3, Milky Way That cabin has a glass enclosed fireplace and your name did not match anything in my reservation system I reread your complaint but no where did I see where you put your daughters name in that email Since I never received your emails you said you sent, and your name did not match anything I had, I had no idea who you were You left large pieces of mostly bark and lumber, which I hope was not pressure treated, because that will make you very sick, in cabin when you left We had guests in cabin right after you left and they made a fire and enjoyed their stay without any complaints I am very confused, because you didn't leave early so I am not sure why you should get a refund We have had literally thousands of fires in the cabin in the three years (the whole property was inspected by a state official when we purchased it) we have owned Rustic River Cabins and not one person has had trouble with that fireplace as you describeI flue is not damage, it is only the handle to open and close it When you say you walked into the cabin and it smelled like smoke, it was from the fireplace I can not stop people from having a fire, however, what I can do is stop people from smoking cigarettes inside the cabins That is what the charge is forWhat I really wish is at the time, you would have said something to James He was in the cabin doing a walk throughI understand that when you did not get a response from your first email how that would have upset you That was never our intention and I would never, ever ignore someone telling me that they think our cabin made them sickI sure would have called to speak to you to make sure you were okayWe live and work in these cabins regularly, I actually called the guest that checked in after you to make sure they were well I am so sorry that you were sick while on vacation We have contacted both the people before and after you and neither one of them are ill I do not want to make light of your illness or accusation but you could have picked it up any whereWe disinfect our cabins between each and every stay This is our home........this is our whole life.......we try to impress at check in that if you have any problem at all to please come down and talk to us face to face We only went on a single hike the whole time you were here We were available to talk

I do not have this person listed in my reservation system for being here at all I also have scanned my email with the address provided and I have never received an email about asking for a refundI never got an email from this address at all I would be very concerned about someones health We live on the property and I am not sure why they waited to go home before they said something to us We have had all of our chimneys checked and the only thing missing is the handle to the hearth I guest broke it and we just have not had time to replace it We have owned these cabins for only years but they were built years ago Fireplaces were built a lot different then Also in July of Rustic River Cabins installed all new smoke and carbon monoxide detectorsIf the reservation was under another name I would need to know that and I would love to know where they sent the emails to.Jeanine and James P***Rustic River Cabins

Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: I forgot to say a few things last time There was no smoke detector in that room I found of them behind the bed I did not complain because I did not want to ruin the holiday We finally just put it out I wrote as soon as I got back I mentioned my daughter's name in one of the emails It's not my fault your system did not deliver the message Her name is [redacted] Originally, I asked to reimburse her card but would rather leave her out of this I do not believe that I am the only one who has ever complained Just don't believe itI'm sure you've had plenty of complaints about the odor too Yes, you can avoid the smell by having properly built fireplacesNone of the people I know who burn wood, including myself, have homes that reek of smoke.Yes it was cabin 2, sorryI did get very sick but was the only one It was not the wood Again, you are blaming everything but the problem, your fireplace You mentioned passing an inspection I would like to see the one for cabin As this drags on and on and you consistently take no responsibility, I grow more frustrated and want a larger settlement to compensate for what a hassle this is I would like $500, which will cover my related expenses for this smoke inhallation, including a lousy Christmas Regards, [redacted] ***
