Rusty Nuts Garage Reviews (%countItem)

The owner of Rusty Nuts Garage, JJ is amazing! He went out of his way to go to my aunt's house to jump start her car so she could have her oil changed. He then tested battery and alternator to let her know she needed a new battery. He then went and got her the new battery and installed it for her right away. Best customer service I've seen in years! Very honest, trust worthy, and knowledgeable guy. I would recommend him to everyone. He is my go to guy for any car repairs or maintenance from here on out.

I brought my vehicle to have it repaired. The owner was very nice and went out of his way to make me aware of everything that needed to be repaired. All repairs were completed in a very timely matter. I would definitely recommend Rusty Nuts Garage for all your repairs.

My Equinox was brought in for repair, as the check engine light was on. *** with Rusty Nuts claimed time fix this with replacement of sensors. I called him to let him know the check engine light is still on, after driving it the first time from being fixed. I was told to take it somewhere else and it isn’t his problem. I brought my vehicle to Auto Zone to check what code was causing the light. The code is exactly the same as when I brought my vehicle in. Now *** (Rusty Nuts) refuses to return my call and refuses to resolve this.

Rusty Nuts Garage Response • Dec 26, 2019

I am responding to your letter dated December 18, 2019 about a complaint filed with the Revdex.com by Ms. ***.On 12/15/19 I was contacted by *** that her vehicle needed to be serviced the check engine light was on and when Autozone scanned it, it came back saying it was the cadillac converter. I went and picked up her Equinox with my truck and trailer on 12/15/19 and brought it back to my shop. On 12/16/19 I scanned it as the check engine light was on for a bank 2 O2 sensor, and I replaced the O2 sensor for bank 2 on 12/16/19. I then delivered the vehicle to Julie, I drove the Equinox from my shop to *** residence, the check engine light never came on during that time. When I received a phone call on 12/17/19 from *** saying I over charged her and didn't even fix her vehicle I was completely caught off guard as I have done numerous other repairs on her Equinox and her daughter's vehicle as well. When doing these previous repairs I have eaten most of the cost for these as I was trying to help her out because I knew money was tight for her. I told her to bring the vehicle to me at 3:00 on 12/17/19 and I would look at it, she was a no-show. I then told her to drop it off later that night and I would look at it again she never showed up so at that point I did tell her that it wasn't my problem anymore as I was trying to resolve it. During this time she also wrote a negative review on my business page on Facebook and then blocked me so I was unable to defend myself or delete the post. On 12/18/19 between 9:00 & 10:00 AM *** father dropped off the Equinox and said that *** said he was suppose to drop it off so I could fix it. I explained to him that it was suppose to be here yesterday not today but said I would look at it. The check engine light was on but it wasn't for the same thing as I fixed on 12/16/19 it was for the O2 sensor in bank 1 that I previously replaced back in March of 2019. This part was under warranty so I took it to the parts store and exchanged it for a new one. The parts store said that the warranty isn't valid on the replacement part as the vehicle is burning oil and that is what is causing the sensors to go out. I replaced the sensor in bank 1 and even tho it was not the same problem I never charged her a dime for labor. *** father picked the vehicle up by 3:30 on 12/18/19 and I haven't heard anything of the situation until I received the letter from you.I hope this helps hearing my side of the story. If you have any further questions please feel free to email me or call me at (920) 642-4694Sincerely,***Rusty Nuts Garage

The owner of Rusty Nuts Garage seriously distorts and misleads the chain of events, as written by his employee ***. He has refused calls, hung up on me repeatedly when trying to contact him. When stating I was a “no show” he fails to mention I called prior and alerted him I had my light read by Auto Zone. I did this as he was increasingly hostile with me, and was not responding. He also implies a complaint with overcharging from a previous encounter, which is not at all true. He did not repair the part agreed upon, when finding something else to be the problem. At no time did he contact me to provide an update or determine if I wanted to proceed with the new repair. He also changed how he was billing. I reached out to him and stated he may want consider contacting the customer prior if there are changes in repair, as well as changes in how the customer is billed. I stated that is how most mechanics work and customers may be hesitant when they are not informed. The owner took offense to this stating I didn’t get it, he saved me money. (The sensor being cheaper than the converter.) I told the owner outright, I was not in any way saying his charges were unreasonable. Rather the customer should have an update if there are changes. The owner did call to set up a repair, however this call was the owner screaming at me, using profanity and threatening me multiple times. I tried to respond several times as he was yelling at me. He refused to let me speak, and then hung up on me. I texted him to state I would not be coming alone to the garage as I did not feel safe. I was told the sensor would be there the next day, so I did not want to come the night prior to drive around with him. I made arrangements for my father to drop off my vehicle there next day, for repairs. When picking up my vehicle the owner informed my father he would not do further repairs to my vehicle. That evening I drove my vehicle and the engine light was on again. I have no proof or documentation that any repair was actually done, or if the light was simply reset. Resetting the check engine light allows the car to be driven and have a couple starts prior to the light coming back on- creating the illusion there was a repair. Stating the code was for something different is misleading as he had replaced both sensors previously, with no resolution. He continues to be aggressive and hostile. He has not properly replaced/repaired my vehicle.

Regards

Revdex.com:I have reviewed the response may by the consumer in reference to complaint ID.I reached out to customer on Thursday January 2nd via text message asking her what she felt an agreeable solution would be so we could both put this behind us. In her lengthy reply she stated all she wanted was her car fixed so the check engine light is off. If replacing the sensors fixed it (as she has replaced a top and bottom sensor with me previously) that would be great but there have been continuous issues since and she just sincerely wanted her car fixed (or her money returned if it isn't going to be fixed) that she didn't have an easy suggestion for this as she isn't a mechanic. She asked if I had a reasonable solution/idea? and thanked me for reaching out in an attempt to resolve this. I offered to drop off the $175.00 I charged her on 12/16/19 and again explained that I told her dad with her truck burning oil that the parts were no longer under warranty. That I sent her a picture of the heater control that needs to be fixed and that will make the check engine light come on. Again that there was no light on when it left my shop. And that both of the sensors (O2) are brand new. As of today 1/6/2020, I still have not heard from her whether refunding her the $175.00 would be an agreeable solution as with her vehicle burning oil it is going to keep malfunctioning sensors and I just want this settled. Sincerely,***Rusty Nuts Garage

I did hear from the owner of Rusty Nuts Garage asking for resolution. I explained from the start I had simply wanted my vehicle repaired. I didn’t have an easy solution and asked if he had recommendations. As I’ve attached screenshots, the owner told me he would refund $175 (placing it in my mailbox). I have waited and checked my mail daily, not wanting to confront or antagonize the owner in any way- I haven’t sent messages regarding payment not being here. Only to see he has now said I haven’t replied. I am trying to be accommodating and avoid conflict as much as possible. I have simply been waiting for the refund he stated he was going to drop off. This has truly become a nightmare.
