Extremely disappointed with the customer service here. My family was driving home from [redacted] and called this campground to see if there was availability. I liked the location and the $30.00 night drive in option. The woman I spoke to was nice. I wasn't sure if we needed a reservation or not. I was told there were plenty of sites available but that they would not be there when we checked in. I decided to reserve a site because they would be closing in an hour. I was informed that my credit card would not be charged and that I would see them in the morning.

An hour before we would have arrived the king pin that attaches the 5th wheel to the hitch snapped. We were very lucky that we were not all killed. I tried to call to cancel my reservation but they were closed. The message on their machine said they had sites available and that you could pull in and be seen in the morning. I did not leave a message, but tried again in the morning and they were not open yet. Needless to say the rest of the day was a nightmare for us. We were stranded 10 hours from home with 3 kids, my elderly mother in law, and two dogs. We literally slept in the Camping World parking lot. My phone was dead and I wasn't able to charge it until the evening.

I called the campground as soon as they opened to explain our situation and make sure we were not charged. I am honestly shocked by the way I was treated. I spoke to [redacted] who told me I was charged and that he would not refund me. I tried to explain what happened and he hung up on me. He repeatedly hung up on me when I called back and yelled at me not to call back.

When I spoke to my bank they said I needed to call the campground back and try to get the manager/owner to work with me. They also said I needed to get the names of the people I spoke to. [redacted] told me he would not provide his last name for the bank. He lied and said they were full and had to turn away 4 campers, even though their message said there were sites available for the night.

After I called several times I spoke to the woman who booked us. She was nice st first and then started to yell at me too. She said they charged my card because I didn't have the decency to cancel. I tried to explain about the accident and she did not care. I said I called and they were closed and was told I should have left a message. The conversation ended with her telling me "it is what it is" and hanging up on me. So, I guess it is what it is. I'm much less angry about the loss in money than I am for the absolute disrespectful and lack of understanding in an emergency situation. I'm also angry that I was blatantly lied to in order to justify an unauthorized charge to my account.

For the record, this is the first negative review I've ever made.
