RV's of Sacramento Reviews (3)

We will never go back to RVs of Sacramento again! They are deceitful and manipulative in selling used RVs. They gave us a written quote on the price and our trade in (with multiple lines of numbers and calculations.) We said we were not financing any portion of the sale, but paying in full. The manager pointed to the bottom line on the quote and said “This is what you’d write the check for.” At this point we said we needed to talk and see if we felt it was right for us and went to lunch to discuss it. It was now about 1 pm. During our lunchtime discussion we saw that there was a $3,000 down payment figure above the bottom line, so when we returned to the RV lot, we asked to have that clarified. What was the amount we were going to be paying? The sales person left us to talk to the manager and when she returned she told us the cost to us was the lower figure. The $3,000 that was showing as a down payment was a way for them to reduce the sales price more (or something to that effect.)

So, we spent hours going through the used trailer, as it was being sold as is, to see if it was sound and what we wanted. Then we spent time waiting to talk to the salespeople, to arrange pick up and discuss the few repairs, etc. that we felt needed to be done. Having all the details worked out, we waited to meet with the finance person who writes up the paper work. We had arrived there around noon and this was now after 6 pm. The main salesperson we were working with and the sales manager, who quoted us the price, went home, leaving us with the finance person and another sales person who had not been part of the negotiations. When we finally got to the paper work with what we had to pay, they wanted $3,000 more than we had agreed on. The price changed at the very end!

We talked further with the finance manager about why we felt his figures were wrong and he saw that we were very frustrated and said he understood why we felt that way. He phoned the manager to discuss the matter further and came back saying that to make the sale we would need the additional $3000 to make it happen. Hours before, around 2:30 pm, we had verified the figure before doing forward to make sure we were clear. We walked away from the sale tired, disappointed, and mad. Had they been clear in their communication or not deceitful in their business, we wouldn’t have wasted so many hours there and not been excited thinking we’d found the right RV for us. We could have used those hours to visit other RV dealers to look for the right trailer.

We tried to talk with the manager the next day by phone. He shared with us that the reason the $3000 down payment was on the paper they had shown us with the figures of our sale was that it had been on that screen from a previous clients quote. We had been told this as well by the finance person while we were still at the dealership. Is it not their job as sales people to review their figures to make sure they are correct before they present it to the customer? Why it was still on the screen wasn’t the issue, the fact that it had been explained to us as a way to further discount the trailer was the issue and our understanding as to why it was listed on that line. That was what we were told and that is what we believed. We wanted him to know what happened so he could review the negotiation steps so misunderstandings (which he thought it was) wouldn’t happen to others. He said that the figures were the figures and he couldn’t change that. He didn’t give us the opportunity to speak as he seemed to feel that we had no right to question what he was saying about how they had handled this. He just wanted to talk, and not listen to us, further confirming that he, and obviously the dealership, didn’t really care about what had happened.

Having both been business owners we appreciate that it takes a lot to make a successful business and customer service is at the very top of that list. What struck us as odd was that they made absolutely no effort to come to some other arrangement with us, but stuck with what they felt they wanted with no consideration about how we as customers felt, and what we believed.

Do not take your business here. We had our Cyclone 5th Wheel consigned there for 8 months and we received the poorest of treatment. They do not return phone calls. There is an excuse for everything. They claimed to not have the time to complete some simple warranty work on our rig (too busy for 8 months, really?). When my husband picked up our rig yesterday after the contract was up, there were many problems. They LOST our keys! My husband asked to look where they store them thinking he might recognize them. He was led to a back room with boxes of keys! He was then told, "don't look in those boxes they are from RVs we don't have anymore. Look over here in these boxes." It is completely unacceptable! My husband had them rekey it there on the spot. There was also a large scuff mark on the front of our rig and a smaller one on the side. We dropped it off pristine and now it's dirty and damaged! My husband stayed there and made them fix the mistakes before he left. They wanted him to leave it with them for a couple more days to fix it. The two gentlemen who actually completed the repairs were wonderful. It is only the salesmen and management who are terrible. They all disappeared while the repairs were being made, not to be seen again.
Take your rig there at your own risk! Awful place.

Review: I visited there store looking to puchase a travel trailer. I initially spoke to a salesperson named [redacted]. during the conversation I indicated I was also interested in possible consigning our fifth wheel.today 3/20/2014 I spoke with [redacted] again. he was rude, unprofessional, dictatorial and obnoxious.he started yelling at me. I told him it wasnt what he was saying as much as how he was saying it. [redacted] said, I AM DOING YOU A FAVOR BY PICKING UP YOUR TRAILER. I had already told him during our initial convesation that we wanted to either trade it in or consign it and buy a unit that he had in stock. I also told him I would consider accepting 8k and pay the cash difference for his unit.I suggested he drive to our residence and look at our unit. he started yelling again and said, YOU EXPECT ME TO DRIVE TO YOUR PLACE JUST TO LOOK AT YOUR TRAILER. I said it was just a suggestion. he also said, IM NOT GOING TO GIVE YOU WHAT YOU WANT FOR YOUR TRAILER. JUST FORGET IT. I said my asking price is not cast in concrete. yes, I would take less. in conclusion. [redacted] does not have sales skills nor does he have social skills. his approach to customers is sadly lacking. instead of working with me he talked down to me in an extremely demeaning manner. I question why the owner of rv's in sacramento would hire or condone such disgusting behaviour... I have been in business for 30 years and never, I repeat never would have I ever spoken to a customer or for that matter anyone like [redacted] spoke to me.Desired Settlement: the owner of this business should either let him go or train him to approach customers without a chip on his shoulder. his sale skills and pr skills are sadly lacking.he definitely should appologize for his miserable attitude.

Response:

This is in regards to reference #[redacted]. Sales person [redacted] called and spoke with customer about any misunderstandings that occurred and apologized. Customer accepted apology. [redacted] offered to help sell her trailer by cosigning it even after this misunderstanding. After speaking with customer again, and finding out when she tried to sell it on her own. An individual came and looked at it, and did not want to buy it because it was leaking. We are unable to sell a trailer in that condition. We really do try to help our customers as much as possible. Like any business we try to make ever person happy, but it is impossible to make 100% of people happy.
