R&W Constuction Reviews (1)

Review: R&W construction started a bathroom remodel for us on 7-14-14 in which we would supply all materials.Quoted price was $1250-$1500 and told it would take 2-3 days to finish.they finished on 7-28-14 but did not come every day and worked 2-3 hrs/day when here. We incurred many damages d/t them.Flooded cellar 2x d/t failure to hook up a lateral drain line that they had removed during work which resulted in any time any toilets or drains used a good portion went in basement ruining all items there and requiring extensive clean up by us.Bathroom tub&sink drains continued to leak after R&W had been told repeatedly about them, they attempted to fix them with putty & tape. The sink drain had a severely cracked, broken lateral line (I have pictures)that flooded basement again ruining ceiling and drain had to be replaced by others at substantal cost that included removing and replacing adjoining rooms wall.Tub was not assembled to MFG specs.Three piece unit does not line up correctly & ended up with large gaps that had to be caulked for a tempory fix.Tools were layed down directly on new vanity top resulting in chips and scratches. These are a few of the problems, there are more.In addition, when bill was recieved cost of material was $886 when we supplied material. When I asked for an itemized statement on what R & W had purchased there were many fraudulent charges.Examples are toilet(we had purchased that)4inch sewer pipe for septic system installation which was not done, ratchet straps, tile saw, hole saw, pump, etc. We did not recieve these items from him and the only one used here was the tile saw I guess for cutting our tile which he did on the railing of our deck leaving cuts on it.Reciepts added up to $776 so he added $109 for gas and time to pick up material that we never recieved to make the total $886.Desired Settlement: I am not seeking any settlement at this time but will also not be paying R&W.His work resulted in alot monetary damage to our new items and also all items that were flooded including many sentimental ones, holiday decorations, yearbooks and pictures.I just hope by filing this he cannot take advantage of someone else with his shoddy workmanship and fraudulent charges.

Response:

Sept. 18, 2014TO Revdex.comI was never even told about all of the damages that was suppose of have accrued that they are claiming. The only time I was told: We got a phone call one night and she stated they had a leak and got a few things wet. I spoke to her husband and he said that he got the leak stopped and it was no big deal. I was going to go to their home and fix the leak. That's the only time I was told about any leaks at all. I know they were having problems with the upstairs bathroom. The toilet kept over flowing. I was told by him that they had a plumber come out to see what was going on with the upstairs bathroom and I was told that he see nothing wrong, that was after I was done with my plumbing. I don't know how the bathroom we did ended up ruining a ceiling when the bathroom we did was on the first floor and there wasn't a ceiling in the basement. We never use putty or tape on pipes. I have done plenty of water pipes. If there was a big hole in the pipe under the sink, I think I would have seen it, because I check for leaks. As far as the sink and tub goes, I didn't see anything wrong with them. When the job was completed, I asked him if he liked everything and if everything was ok. He said yes. I don't understand if there was so much water damage why they didn't call us and let us know what was going on and we could have got it covered under our insurance. But they never even called us.She even called the code officer after we tried to collect the money off of them. If the job was so bad, why did it take her so long to call him? The code officer gave us a call about the job. He in touch with us, but to this day we haven't heard a thing. Also she contracted you on the 5 of Sept and we got a check from them dated the 8th of Sept.About the receipts, there must of have been a receipt that was put in the file on accident. We could of talk this out and then it wouldn't have got to this point.
