Ryan's Nature Solutions L.L.C. Reviews (4)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
I have read and reread the response from [redacted].  I would like to address a few issues he brings up.  (1)  If he did indeed stop over to look at the lawn, why didn't he leave a note?  Why didn't he call to indicate that he had looked at the lawn?  Isn't this just good business practice.  I was the one to call and explain my displeasure.  (2)  [redacted] did bring up the issue of the lawn service putting "chemicals" on the lawn that prevented the "germination of the seed."  I do not know for sure if the lawn service did or did not put chemicals on the lawn.  If they did, it was in July.  The seed was spread the first week of May.  It had 7 good weeks to germinate and if it didn't germinate by then, it wasn't going to.  Today I read in the newspaper that this is the wettest year in Wisconsin's history.  The grass seed should have had plenty of time and water to germinate.  (3)  [redacted] indicated that he dropped off seed.  This is a blatant lie.  He has not dropped off any seed.  In fact, I have not seen [redacted] since I paid him once he did the spreading of the topsoil and seed.  Secondly, I paid [redacted] to do the work. It is his responsibility.(4)  When [redacted] came to write up a "bid" for the job.  I showed him and explained that the front lawn and the east-side lawn were spotty and thin and that I wanted it to look like the back and the rest of the lawn.  He understood and his solution was the addition of topsoil and seed.  I guess maybe his solution was not correct, because it is at most 10% better than it was, and that is a gift because to me it is about the same as when I met with him.  To me there is no difference in the front lawn and a marginal improvement on the east-side lawn.(5)  I have purchased grass seed several times from Menards.  I have applied it myself and watered.  I does not seem to help.  I know it is probably not the best grass seed, but you would think that it would do something. All I want is a lush green healthy lawn.  Now I do admit that the front lawn is starting to brown up a bit, and I do not often water the lawn areas, since they seem to go dormant and then come back on their own as the weather gets less warm.  I have several flower beds that I water religiously so as to keep the plants healthy, but could never keep up with the watering of everything. If you would like me to submit pictures of the lawn and the bear spots, I can definitely do that, but it does not get at the solution.  If [redacted] wants to send me a check for $350 which was the cost of the top soil, spreading the soil and sowing the seed, I will contact another reputable garden center to deal with the lawn and this issue will be done with.  If he wants to start over from scratch and deal with the lawn, that too is acceptable.  But, I am not doing the work that I paid him to do.I have refrained from sharing with individuals who did the work, with the idea that this issue can come to some type of closure.
Regards,

Ryan's Nature Solutions did an excellent job on my landscaping project. [redacted] was very professional and courteous. He was willing to spend the time discussing the project with me to make sure I was happy with the outcome. The pricing was very reasonable and the work was completed in a timely manner. My neighbors have complimented me on the work that was done. I would recommend calling [redacted] for all of your landscape and lawn care needs. I plan to have him out to bid on regarding my yard in the spring.

[redacted]

To Whom this may concern: [redacted]'s Nature Solutions was hired for a landscape project by [redacted] The work was performed as stated on the approved estimate and invoice to Mrs. [redacted]. The work in question has had a few different factors that were properly explained to Mrs....

[redacted] and her husband on several occasions. However, a few details where left of this compliant.  1) The area of the yard where topsoil was finish graded is an area that tends to collect water during rain falls. The soil on the property is a naturally wet area due to the water table in the subdivision and the "pond" in the adjoining neighbor’s yard.  Every time it rains, especially this year with above average rain fall, the pond will overflow into Mrs. [redacted]’s yard. Before the start of the project, this was explained and she seemed to understand this. The grading in the yard was graded to have the water flow away from the house towards the south side of the property. If I would have graded the area that sunk towards the house, there would be more water issues. When grading projects are completed, work is done as existing conditions see fit. This area was compacted several times to avoid over settling, however, to the best of my knowledge there was no way of knowing the area was going to settle as much as it did due to excess underground water.  If Mrs. [redacted] would like this to be corrected, I would be more than happy to work this out with her but the company will not bear the brunt of the cost for this extra work.  2) The grass seed installed is a very high quality grass seed. I used this particular seed on over 500k square feet of lawns installed last year. Every customer is given verbal and written instructions on how to properly care for their new lawn. When the company does get complaints, which is usually less than a handful per season, it is usually due to customer negligence or other unknown factors.  This appears to be the same in this case as well. Extra grass seed was given to Mrs. [redacted] to spot seed as seen fit if original seed washed away or did not germinate.  This lawn was cut before the roots of the grass where allowed to develop, as this was noticeable with small lines every 24 inches or so. When I went back to check on the progress of the lawn, I observed that a push lawn mower was ran through it or the area was over-watered.  I went back and not only over-seeded the lawn again but also left more seed for the customer.   As for the dog area of the lawn, grass seed will not grow in an area that a dog is allowed to continuously urinate on. The type of grass seed used does not have any impact on growing if the area is saturated with acidic dog urine. I told Mrs. [redacted] I would over seed this area if possible at the time of project completion, but the area was too saturated to over seed. This was done as courtesy and was not charged to Mrs. [redacted]. I believe this issue could have been taken care of if the proper instructions for lawn care were followed as directed. 3) As for the day lilies growing again this season, the area she wanted removed was so covered in them that it was hard to tell how deep the bulbs were underground.  This area was also right next to an electrical box. I will not do any kind of digging or trenching near an electrical/cable box for my own safety. I advised that if the day lilies returned the following year, Mrs. [redacted] should spray them with a very potent weed killer.   Follow up note pertaining this complaint: Mrs. [redacted]'s husband was not inclined to help the company perform such work as stated in the complaint. He asked if I minded he give me a hand as he had nothing going on that Saturday and enjoyed working outdoors, but the project was too much for the homeowner to do on his own. I normally do not allow this, but I did not see any harm or foul by having him help with installing the edging in the flower beds. I will say that Mrs. [redacted] and her husband were a very nice couple to work with until issues occurred.  I have tried to work with Mrs. [redacted] on reasonable solutions for these problems. What I find concerning is when she was upset I would get a text message at 5:30-6:00 AM with a picture of some sort of text of displeasure or a threat to be sued in a court room. I went to leave Mrs. [redacted] a voicemail and received no response up until this complaint. If Mrs. [redacted] wants to work this out in a professional manner, without hostile demands, then I am more than willing to address this with her. I as President and Owner of [redacted]’s Nature Solutions take pride in the projects my company completes and want my customers to be happy with their projects upon completion.  If legal action is needed to resolve this matter, this response was well as the Revdex.com may be subject to subpoena concerning this matter.  Thank you for your time, [redacted]
  President
