Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2018/01/04) */
Hi, in October this customer called to order a partShe could have just ordered it from the website, but she called about the partI told her she should not buy this part because it would be very difficult to installShe called back
several times and finally I obliged her
Soon after, she started sending multiple emails saying that she never got the itemThen she finally found it with another tenant, and apologized
She then called wanting to return itI declined her request
We accept returns all of the time, but this is a different circumstance
After receiving a number of profanity laced threatening calls calls and email messages from her- this is just one excerpt from many "You are a spineless liar you *** I insist the *** angels are visiting you for me *** "
I relented and told her she could return itAt hat point the emails continuedI actually thought about involving law enforcement
I will not accept her return now under any circumstances
I am still considering involving law enforcement

Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2018/01/04) */
I have nothing more to addIn summaryThis person bought a part they insisted on buying despite my warningsShe first complained that she did not receive the shipment, then she reported, oops, one of the other tenants had itThen she reported that she wanted to return itIn spite of her rudeness and profane threats, I actually agreed to accept the return and then she wanted us to pay for the shipping to return it, which is absurdShe is totally to blame for all of this, and anyone can see what I am dealing with here by just reading her correspondenceIf you want more, I have half of a dozen profanity laced, threatening hateful email messages. After all of this grief, and frankly her constant lying and irrational emails,
we will not be doing anything for this personEnough is enough

This customer ordered a part and then decided he didn't need it and requested to return it. There were no issues with the part we sent him.
He called us about ordering this part because it was so much less expensive than the dealer part. I...

assured him the part would work fine. He asked about the return policy if it did not fit or work and I assured him it would fit and work fine.
After receiving the part, he contacted us to tell us that he decided he no longer needed the part. He never said the part was poor quality, etc.. I agreed to accept the return under the normal return conditions. We charge restocking because we package and ship the part to the customer for free. As I explained to this customer, I would not charge the restocking fee if I had recommended the wrong part or if the part was defective in some way. Which is why he is now claiming that the part was poor quality when it was not.
We processed his return and issued him the credit less the restocking charge exactly as I personally told we would do.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2017/12/28) */
This customer is claiming that the part they purchased from us online has "gone bad". They have a warranty through the manufacturer of the product for defects. We replied to their requests letting them know that we will help facilitate their...

claim. We sent them instructions to start the claim. This means that the manufacturer will need to get the part back in order to test and inspect it. We also warned them that if the part has "gone bad" it is almost certain to be the result of contamination from the engine. The catalytic converter is a simple device that performs a chemical reaction. There are no moving parts to wear out. So we warned them that they probably have an engine problem and that there is a strong possibility the manufacturer will reject their claim. We don't care if they want to submit a claim. We are just trying to help.
We will not ship them a new part as they have requested until we are paid for a new part. So they can order a new part from us and pay for it, and if the manufacturer determines it is defective, we will issue a credit. It is not up to us. We are not the manufacturer.

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Yes I agree there are no moving parts in the catalytic converter. So why does the one I purchased rattle like its going to fall off the car. And why should I purchase another one if the first one is not a good product. In order for me to be happy they need to stand by the warranty they said I had before I bought the product. and replace it and ill be more than happy to sent the defective one back. My car run fine with 170000 miles on it. We put this one in with 167,000 mike on it. I'm pretty sure that if my are was in that bad of shape it would not be the new one I put in but the original one that is before the one that went defective on me. that is not a warranty for me to buy a new one and after that pay to send to the old defective part to them for them to make a determination. why cant I have there local rep inspect it on my car before I get sucked into this warranty prank. No this will not work. No I will not buy another one from them to tell me we don't stand behind the product that they sell. You need to give me a local place to bring the car and have it tested on my car. Period end of discussion.
Please give me an address to were I can have my car tested locally. That would be more like a warranty. Not purchasing another one only to have it go defective again on me. I'll spend my Money on another company first
Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2017/12/29) */
This customer wants to make a claim under the manufacturer warranty. We are willing to assist them with that. The product we sold them worked fine when they purchased it. We did not sell them a defective or non working product. They are claiming that it has "gone bad" since then. We have outlined the process for making this claim. The manufacturer has the right to determine if their product is defective or not. They do not have to buy another product from us.
There are many things that can cause damage to a catalytic converter. Often, one installs a new catalytic converter without correcting the cause of the original catalytic converter failure, thus damaging the new converter. This would not be a defect. The customer has been provided the instructions for making a warranty claim with our assistance. They need to follow the instructions if they feel the part is defective.
