They simply do not care about you after they take your money
I tried to not write this review with the hopes that S&A would do the right thing, but I wish someone wrote this for me when I was looking for a home builder. I want to say that the creation process was amazing and the building process was ok, but once the house was built it has been an uphill battle with S&A, which, because they refuse to engage, will most likely sadly end in court.

S&A improperly installed my radon system, which is a professional opinion the company I have hired to fix the issue. Radon is an odorless, invisible, radioactive gas naturally released from rocks, soil, and water. I contacted S&A December 2022 about the improper installation and continued to contact them throughout the year. I did not hear back from S&A until December 2023, a full year later, that they would not be fixing my radon system. I filed a complaint with Better Business Bureau, which has helped with various other issues I have had with S&A, but that did not work this time. I don't see how S&A believes that they bear no responsibility for radon installation when that is what I paid for. Why install anything at all then? Just take the money and run if you bear no responsibility in giving me what I paid for. As I mentioned, this will probably have to be brought to court.

Below is the message from the Radon professionals, who will be fixing the issue (out of my own pocket):

I reviewed your current radon system and have a few comments. The attempt to seal the area behind the passive pipe installed by your builder appears to be adequate. However, the manometer reading is very low even for the fan that’s been installed. Those low levels are indicative of a fan sucking in air through a crack or cracks. Furthermore, your continued elevated concentrations of radon in your house indicate the system isn’t working.

Therefore, I recommend installing a new suction point near the middle of the basement adjacent to the staircase and connecting it to the system. The original suction point will be equipped with a gate valve that’ll be almost closed to allow for condensation drainage. The rest of the suction from the fan will be focused on the new suction point.

The proposed cost is $700 plus $150 for the official test once the levels are below the proposed limit.

Please let me know how you’d like to proceed or if you have any other questions.

Below is a gist of what S&A responded back with (I am purposely not quoting them directly, in case that is an issue for whatever reason):

S&A bears no responsibility for tasks involving radon mitigation, radon fan installation, or any radon-related matters. Every customer signs an acknowledgment in their sales contract, clearly stating that S&A is not accountable for radon mitigation or home radon levels. We highly value Mr. Paris as a customer, and our team will meet with him to clarify that the responsibility for radon mitigation or installing a radon mitigation system does not fall under our purview.

Leaking garage
I've had an issue with my garage leaking into my under garage storage area. The leak has ruined the under carriage metal support floor. Constantly leaks into storage
The metal support just rusts out.
Is a major problem in winter weather
Not sure if anyone has the same issue.
Wish I knew of others.
Leaking garage

The outstanding issue right now is, the damaged floor that got repaired does not match the quality of the rest of the part, the color looks different, and certain area is not flat as it should be I agree we need to give the company an opportunity to cure, but I've got kids at home, every time there is construction going on, my kids' life is hugely disturbed, including the health concern This is why I want to avoid more repairs and constructions, and ask for a refund instead I totally respect your arbitration here, if you decided this case is not something Revdex.com covers, I am ok that you close the case, but I cannot say I am satisfied by the outcome Maybe what I need is a lawyer instead of Revdex.com in this situationAppreciate your time anyways thanks

S & A Homes has been at the house numerous times over the past few months and at this point the kitchen island and tile in the shower have been completed to what we believe are the customers satisfactionA new item has come up regarding their handrail which our warranty manager is reviewing with them but otherwise we believe the rest of the items have been completedPlease let me know if this is not the caseThanks,Chris S [redacted]

I'd like to preface this by saying I am the very last person to ever complain..If my meal is wrong at a restaurant I just roll with it..I never speak up on issues so for me to complain about this company please know it is BAD!!! When searching for a home builder, we had heard good things about S and A homesLittle did we know what we were in forWe signed our papers for the house in September 2015, as well as gave our moneyAt this meeting we were informed it would take 4-months to build the homeWe were told it would be about weeks for permits to come in and for them to get startedweeks went by and nothingweeks went by and nothingFinally after a phone call from me in the 6th week, we were told there had been delaysFinally they started building in November Our house had to be moved around on the lot due to a fire hydrant (which we told them repeatedly about and they never listened)This change was NEVER discussed with us..they took it upon themselves to make the change regardless if we were okay with it or notFrom the time they started building it has been one issue after anotherOur project manager Brian H [redacted] was the ABSOLUTE WORST person to work with(After moving in and talking with neighbors EVERYONE we talked to agreed he was awful!!) I had to make several calls over and over to get updates on the houseIt would sit days and days and days without work being doneWe built before so we know that days go by with no work but we are talking a week if not more that no work would happen-and weather was perfect We had a very mild winter and yet still they couldn't get work doneWe would be told something was happening that week and it would never get doneI can recall being told excavating was happening on a certain day and when this didn't happen for days and days I finally complained and was told the excavator was on vacation!! Brian knew this yet lied to us just to tell us somethingWe were jerked around like this for the ENTIRE BUILDING PROCESSIt wasn't until my husband and I complained to the general manager that some things started to get doneAfter my complaints our project manager Brian completely stopped talking to usWhen we would see him at the house he would turn and ignore usHORRIBLE!! We had to beg for our house to be completed MONTHS after the the whole process and that was a struggle for themKeep in mind we built a very simple bedroom houseNo special upgrades or additionsmonths! The day we had a walk through of the house we were told the door would be painted that dayOver a month later we are STILL waiting for our front door to be paintedAgain I have continued with my complaints to get this door painted and we are told time and time again its going to happen that week and still never happensThis is the same issue with our yard and sidewalk/drivewayWe were told by the general manager that it was happening in a certain weekThis week has come and gone and we are still looking at a mudpit and gravelEven with complaints to general managers, this company does NOTHING but jerk you aroundWe closed on our house over a month ago and are still getting no where with anythingThey have ZERO ACCOUNTABILITY for their contractorsWe keep being told that because of rain we are pushed back yet we have days and day and days of beautiful weather and nothing gets completedOur biggest issue with this company is all the lies we have been toldIf they were honest and upfront about when things were going to be completed then I would understandWe were "guaranteed" by the general manager that we'd have a driveway by the end of the weekThat was over a week ago and still NOTHING!! The lies are just so out of control at this point and we feel helplessFor the amount of money we paid for this house we expect far better customer serviceThe house has a lot of mistakes and looks like they hurried to complete a lot of things in the houseWe waited a long time for this house and honestly I wished we had NEVER EVER EVER built with themIf they would have been honest and upfront with us about work getting done I would have understood it allHowever to lie and say things will happen at a certain time and they NEVER DO is unacceptableIf I did that in my job I'd be firedThe excuse I get from the general manager is "that is what his contractors tell me"..well as a MANAGER you need to hold your contractors more accountable because clearly it makes you look like an itNo matter how many times I have complained, nothing resolves it and we continue to live in a dirt mud pit with an unfinished $500,dollar houseThat might not be a lot of money to some, but to us..it was all we had and this was supposed to be our dream home and this company has just been awfulI wished we listed to the neighbors in the neighborhood and backed out because every single one of them had issues with this company and with Brian If I could do it all again I would NEVER, EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER build with this company and I will certainly NEVER recommend them..not even to my worst enemyIf you are thinking about building with this company, do research with the neighbors and be prepared to be lied to and mislead for double what you will be told it will take to build your home
