When I first received this complaint I was surprised because the end result of this repair did not end in a bad way*** ***
brought his car in to me because he heard a noise in the brakesI stated to him that we will check the brakes it will probably need at minimum rotors and padsHe was fine with that and expressed at the time to just fix the car because he needed itWith that I drove him to his wife's job so he can use her car for the dayHe brought the car to me at 11:am without an appointmentHe just wanted it fixedThe car was done by 5:pm the same dayI called him and told him it was readyWhen he came to the shop it was explained to him that in addition to rotors and pads he needed a rear caliper immediatelyHe was fine with this diagnosis and outcomeIt was more than he expected but he understood that what we did was necessary and after all he told us to just fix the carLike I stated before, I was surprised to receive this complaint*** *** has been into my shop for at least times since to repair his carHe has never complained about how him and I conduct our business togetherHis bill was $for rotors, pads, a caliper, brake fluid and laborThis is not an excessive bill for the work performedA dealership would have cost double the amount plus would have added unnecessary work to the jobWe did what the customer wanted, repaired the car and kept the cost to a minimumAfter receiving this complaint and since I have never had a problem with him nor any other customer in the past years I have been in business I decided to give him a callHe was actually surprised himself because he had absolutely no knowledge of this complaintHe surmised that his wife must have submitted it without consulting himSo in the end this complaint is not valid or true

Review: On April **, 2015 I went to S & J Service center to have my break pads replaced. The breaks had begun making a slight noise the night before and I wanted to have the pads replaced before the problem got worse. I left my car at S & J Service and was told that I would receive and phone call when they were done. They called me around 5pm to let me know I could come to pick up my car. When I arrived I was told by the customer service rep that the bill was 436.53$, that the calipers had seized and they had to fix it. I never received any sort of notice that this work was going to be done. I paid the bill because I need my car to get to and from work. The next day I called and spoke with the [redacted] who said "I don't know what to tell you, the work had to be done, in fact we gave you a break on the labor, oh and your other caliper is going to need to be replaced too." When I explained that no one called me to tell me of this work he said "sorry but I don't know what to tell you." He did not offer any other remedy to the situation. I went in anticipating a 150$ car repair (at most) and the only explanation that was given was "it had to be done."Desired Settlement: I don't believe that I should have been charged for work that I did not agree to. I have been going to this repair shop for quite some time and have never experienced this type of treatment. I believe that the work should have been explained to me before it was done, and it should not have been expected that I would just be okay with a 436$ bill when I went in expecting break pads to be replaced.

A dealership would have cost double the amount plus would have added unnecessary work to the job. We did what the customer wanted, repaired the car and kept the cost to a minimum. After receiving this complaint and since I have never had a problem with him nor any other customer in the past 50 years I have been in business I decided to give him a call. He was actually surprised himself because he had absolutely no knowledge of this complaint. He surmised that his wife must have submitted it without consulting him. So in the end this complaint is not valid or true.
