S. McConnell Landscaping Reviews (1)
Review: Mr. [redacted] McConnell of McConnell Landscaping was hired to remove our existing deck and install new [redacted] Planks and rebuild benches with [redacted] planks extending 2 feet and installing 6 new footings with posts and railings going down the steps on the footprint of the existing deck on the 26th day of March,2013. Mr. McConnell used nails, not recommended by the manufacturer, which showed rust. He changed some of the nails for screws which were not recommended by the manufacturer. Those screws couldn't house the finishing plug recommended by he manufacturer so they had to be replaced with the screws recommended by the manufacturer- which wasn't started until November of 2013. That work was never completed. The work does not meet manufacturers standards of workmanship, was negligently performed and will cause further rusting and deterioration. I spoke to Mr. McConnell in the spring of 2014 and he promised he would order the parts needed to complete the project. Mr. McConnell, who was also my landscaper, did my Spring clean up and was never heard from again. I have tried to get in touch with Mr. McConnell by phone on numerous occasions, leaving him numerous messages and sent him a certified letter on May 1, 2014 but he has not tried to reach out to contact me in return. I have contacted another contractor, [redacted]nc., of Springfield N.J. 07081 for an estimate to repair the deck. In order for the deck to be properly completed, manufacturer recommended screws and finishing plugs have to be installed, at a cost of $5500.00 for parts and labor.Desired Settlement: At this point in time, I would not like to have Mr. McConnell anywhere near my home because the trust I had in him for his 14 years of service is gone. I would like to recoup the $5,500.00 needed to have Mr.[redacted] properly complete my deck with manufacturers recommended screws and finishing plugs.
