MrHandyman made two visits to this customer [redacted] was not at home each visit His wife was home.On the first visit our technician performed a number of tasks and was asked to take a look at a leaking showerThe technician tightened the shower handle but that did not resolve the issue Our technician communicated with [redacted] via a telephone call made by the customer's wife [redacted] wanted MrHandyman to replace the shower cartridge He said he would buy the cartridge and call our office to schedule the next visit [redacted] called the office to make appointment for a second visit and did purchase a cartridge. On the second appointment again [redacted] was not at home Our technician realized that [redacted] had purchased the wrong cartridge and informed [redacted] 's wife Again by telephone we were asked to remove the cartridge so that [redacted] could take it with him to get the right part Our technician informed [redacted] that the valve was old and that it might be difficult to remove the cartridge Our technician recommended replacing the whole shower valve We were asked to try to remove the valve regardless. To remove these cartridges you pull on the valve stem while moving the cartridge body side to side Eventually the shower valve stem broke off of the cartridge body At this point to remove the cartridge you need a tap which our technician did not have in his tool set. Here is a video of what would have been needed now to remove the cartridge [redacted] Some times even this does not work due to the corrosion of the parts (bonded together) and a new shower valve is needed There was no charge for this second visit.I called and spoke with customer and offered for me, one of the owners of MrHandyman, to try to remove the cartridge as I have a tap and dye set Again, this forceful removal can damage the sleeve into which the cartridge is inserted requiring a new shower valve but I said I would try.We were expecting to hear back from customer [redacted] did not call back but had another company take a look at the shower valve They apparently replaced the entire shower valve as we originally recommended I do not know if they attempted to remove the cartridge as we were asked to do.We were not given the opportunity to inspect the shower valve to see for ourselves the damage that [redacted] claims we caused that required the shower valves eventual replacement.I have attached pictures of the shower valve as we left it There is no visible damage to the valve sleeve.Thank you kindly,Bruce W***MrHandyman Tell us why here
