S & P Landscaping

Review: Scott owner of S & P landscaping came to my home the first week in May for an estament for yard work. At that time I ask if he could set me up on a weekly schedule for yard mowing, then other work to be done later. He replied "yes, what ever you want". He left that day with out mowing, did not return for 3 weeks. After that first mowing he called saying his mower was broken could I pay him in advance for future work? So he could get his mower fixed. The agreement was to mow every week for a month at $40 a pop, spread pine needles, trim trees and shrubs in front and back, Plug, seed and fertilize the yard, telling he would need to use the expensive seed to get anything to grow in my yard. The total was $900.00. I was concerned that this was a little high so I spoke with the person who referred him to me. She stated "oh he ask us for an advance too". I left the check at the house the next day which he picked up and cashed right away. Then I didn't see him again for another three weeks. Grass was a foot high. At this time he did trim the trees and shrub in front and spread pine needles. The next mow was three weeks later, the next mow was four weeks later. I called Scott leaving a message that I expected a refund of money given in good faith for the plugging seeding and fertilizing. I didn't hear from him, finally three weeks later he came and mowed the final time, and finally trimmed the rest of the trees. He told my mother at the time that we were even with money vs. work. He told my mother that the plugging and all could not be done till fall. Today five weeks later I still have heard nothing from him. I called to voice my concern and request a refund for services not rendard. He refused stating the mowing made up the difference. I told him I didn't appreciate him taking advantage of me and stealing my money. He owes me for services paid for but not provided.He basically called my mother a liar and that she didn't understand what he said.Desired Settlement: When Scott was talking with my mother he talked to her like he never intended to mow my yard every week, even though he told me he would. He told her he mows ever 10 days. Well he didn't even do that. Mowed 5 times in 5 months. I checked with several other landscaping businesses, they quoted $300.00 to $350.00 to plug, seed and fertilize. I am asking for $300.00 in refund for work paid for but not provided. Scott told me I would never see that money and that he was offended I even ask.
