Consumer Final Response: The new
owner Gary,he went above and beyond, and completely fixed the whole
problem,he was very kind about.so if you ever need a new roof call Gary,he will take care of you,and do it right. I am rejecting this response because:
On July 25th Gary who is the new owner called ,left message,I retuned his call back,we talked he did inform that he just bought the company month ago,he told me that he was very sorry for all the problems that I've endured. He let me know that he did forward this to the former owners, and that he was hoping that they would step up and take care of this, but he also told me that if they do not get in touch with me,he had promised that he will make everything right,he said he will come and fix everything ,cause he does want me to be 100% satisfied,he told me to call him back on Monday July 25th to let him know if they got in touch with, they did not reach out to me (previous owners),so I called him on the 25th,he said he could not come this week, but will call me on August 1st to set up a day that he can come that week to look at it to see what all he needs to do,I said ok sounds good.Upon reading the response that the previous owners had written ,it is not true they never told that the bird screen was missing, they thought that was the problem, but when he got on the roof it was still there and intact, and yes they did try to blame the storms and wind, and that its from the defrost in April, that is whenI told them that that is not true, they never mentioned about getting completely rid of the vent ,they wanted to move it over, that is what they told me.And when they did come and give me the very first estimate,I told them that this problem has been a ongoing problem for us and that it will leak on some rainy days and sometimes not,I tdid tell them that it didn't matter how bad the weather/storm it was, just like the rain/storm that we just had last week of the 18th not one drop came in,now who knows next time it may leak, that is what I told them when they came to give estimate ,at that time they did reassure me that it would be completely fixed and no more leaks at all.Like I said the new owner Gary said he will take care of it all,and fix it cause he does want to make me happy. So I am hoping that he does stand behind his words

[redacted] See Hard Copy Attached [redacted] Response to Revdex.com complaint [redacted], [redacted]. On 9/4/13 S. Robideau was hired by [redacted] and [redacted] to repair damage to their home sustained by a storm. They were referred to our company through either the insurance adjuster or Insurance Company....

A Scope of work estimate was prepared and agreed to by their insurance carrier for damage to the deck, interior repairs caused by water from the room, and replacement of the asphalt shingles due to storm damage. S Robideau complete its scope of work on or about 9/23/13 and the [redacted]'s were billed a total of $6901.15 07269.26 less $368.11 credit for deck items). 5 Robideau received full payment from the [redacted]'s on 10/9/13. S Robideau made two site visits after the roof was complete in direct response to the [redacted]'s communications. The first inspection was on or about 4/18/13 and in direct correlation with a snow storm that occurred 4/16/13. This was an uncommon event that produced large amounts of snow and rain along with wind gust conditions. The temperatures on this day were between 37 and 28 degrees. The issue at hand was a large Broan Vent (kitchen through roof vent) that has thin metal damper in it that opens and closes during use. We made a visual inspection of the vent and roof that revealed no damage or installation issue. This roof had sustained and shed water for 7 to 8 months with no issue. In that time period we sustained many rain fall events, highest amount of snow fall on record sence 1982, and an unprecedented amount of ice dams throughout Minnesota caused by 3 consecutive days of 50 degree weather in December. We advised the homeowner that due to wind conditions produced by the storm, the freeze thaw temperatures on that day, and the low slope nature of the roof (4/12 is the lowest pitch most common to roof structures, the [redacted]'s have a 3/12) that the thin metal damper had most likely opened from the wind and froze in that position with the range of temperatures we had experienced. Our second site visit due to a second call from the [redacted]'s was in the early fall months of 2014. At this point the roof had sustained the extremely wet summer (2014 produced the wettest June on record). June 14th of 2014 Produced 1.6" of rain and wind gusting up to 68 miles per hour in the metro. With little information as to isolating when these occurrences happened we visited the site to inspect a second time. Upon inspection we found that the bird screen was removed from the vent, the metal damper was bent up in the corner and there were chewing/teeth marks on the vent. Out of good faith we removed the vent to further inspect installation, revealed no issues, and replaced. The homeowner was informed that an animal (maybe squirrel) had tampered with the vent. With little knowledge of when the water event occurred and doing a thorough inspection we maintained that due to the low slope of the roof and extreme isolated weather events that the damper had blown open allowing rain in.  S Robideau was called again in the spring of 2015. At this point it had been communicated to the homeowner that the vent/roof was shedding water in normal conditions, but due to the low slope of the roof and the positioning of the vent the damper was especially susceptible to adverse weather conditions. The only time this vent leaked was when conditions occurred that were out of the control of our company. I fully believe that Mrs..[redacted] understands that. In May of 2015 we produced and sent an estimate to repair the [redacted]'s ceiling, eliminate the vent, and patch the roof. The estimate totaled $1271.56. We advised the [redacted]'s that eliminating this vent would be the only way we could warrant these issues that were out of our control. These scenarios are coded as "Acts of God" in the insurance industry and would be coverable by their insurance carrier. As a side note, this damper situation occurs, isolated, more often than people realize and is not coverable by the vent manufacturer. The common bandage within the roofing Industry to alleviate this issue is to silicone a coin (penny, quarter, etc) on top of the damper. This In affect can alleviate wind fluttering or the raising of the damper in windy conditions, but can also cause larger issues down the road with venting. This common fix is also against the recommendations of the manufacturer. S Robideau Construction is sensitive to the issue that the [redacted]s are having. As well, understand that making an insurance claim would make little sense being that the repair amount Is only marginally higher than there deductible. We are willing to honor the estimate to eliminate the vent.
