Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2016/02/05) */
Good Morning [redacted],
We apologize that [redacted] did not meet your massage expectations, however I do want to address your issues.
Firstly, you had put Swedish massage on the health form, that is a light pressure massage,...

unfortunately it appeared to have been lighter than what you expected. I would suggest putting down deep pressure when receiving a massage from a female therapist and if the pressure is ever too much you can communicate with the therapist and let them know.
Communicating with your therapist is key, so if you ever receive a massage in the future and if its too much pressure or not enough, simply communicate and the therapist will do their best to adjust the pressure since pressure is very subjective. In other words your deep pressure may be more of a Swedish light pressure for me, everyone has a different interpretation as to what is deep, etc. Again, feel free to communicate with your future therapist.
Regarding comfort, the therapist (by your own admission) did ask if you were comfortable but it appears she did not ask you enough times if you were comfortable, that is under review as therapist conduct their practice differently
Regarding your issue with your feet not being touched. Its considered rude practice to touch someone's feet during a massage knowingly that the therapist will be placing their hands on your face or forehead or temples.
Many clients have complained of such practices and it is also documented in books, (as I have one book stating the same thing) that its considered unsanitary to use bare hands or fingers on feet then place same hands on the head area.
We actually thought of using sanitizers for therapist to use on their hands, however the chemical content can also cause a client to have a reaction when said chemicals are on ones face.
Also, [redacted] was mistaken as I always use a sheet on the clients feet, on rare occasions when a client request feet work done, I notify them that I will not be massaging their face or head area because of it.
In Summary, to suggest that [redacted] is racist is ridiculous as she did massage the rest of your body with here bare hands, so why would she not do so with your feet? Because she was being considerate NOT racist.
You had requested a refund for your half of the massage, however because your purchase was not done through us, your request must be made to the 3rd party that you purchased the voucher from as we don't give out refunds to people who did not buy services from us. Which is in your case.
I wish you well in your massage endeavors and understand that different therapist have different techniques.
sincerely

The above email was originally sent days after receiving the complaint..however it was saved in the draft folder instead..When [redacted] contacted me again, I found the original email and resend it to her on 1.28.16
the book I refereed to is by Meagan Holub, "The MaGic Touch", she states "Don't gross your client out by rubbing their feet all over their face, they will be grateful if you did not, even if they don't say so"
In Summary...
The client did not purchase from us or exchange monies with our company, so no refund will be given. Instead they need to contact the third party company of their issue and its up to that third party company on how they will handle the situation.
Also, one usually tips a worker in the service industry when one is pleased with the service. Why did [redacted] tip [redacted] if he had all these issues with the massage? He left her a $10 tip..
To suggest that someone may be prejudice against African Americans in my organization is untrue. This business is minority owned and ran by a work force that is over 60% African American themselves. Why would [redacted] massage [redacted]'s body with her bare hands and not the bottoms of the feet if she was prejudice? Again, its because she was being considerate.... I am hoping [redacted] did not complain against her because she was white, I am starting to wonder how many other complaints has he done against businesses and weather the complaints were against white personnel....hmm.
Regardless, we will not be servicing Mr Payne and his partner any further with our health businesses in the st. louis area and wish them all the best in life
[redacted]
