Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because: We understand that we signed the papers stating the vehicle is "As Is." Still, we take major issue with the and misleading advertisement of this vehicle as being in "excellent" condition, which has a very specific definitionWe purchased "as is" because we took the seller's word on good faith that he had done his due diligence and assessed the vehicle's condition prior to advertising, which is a responsible and ethical business practiceYes, we could have (and should have) had a mechanic look at it first - lesson learnedBut learning that lesson the hard way does not detract from the seller's deceptive advertising and sales practicesI agree that he was a very nice person and very pleasant to work with: again, not the issue in questionThe seller's response underscores our frustration, in essence saying "You should have discovered it yourselfNot my problemYou agreed to buy it." Car sales typically operate on a fair amount of trust in the seller's expertise and disclosure about what is (and is not) included in the saleFor the seller to continually insist that we were not ripped off is abhorrent.
Sincerely,

The buyer originally contacted me on November 8, he did come by my place of business on November 9 and did inspect and test drive this 2002 Ford Escape. My asking price was $3850 and he told that he has to consult with his wife and get back with me. About two hours later he did text me and...

offered me $3300.00 I did accept his offer as I believed this buyer is new in the state and I truly wanted to help him. The $550 discount cut through 95% of my profit. On November 9 him and his wife came to my place so his wife can see and test drive this vehicle. At this point on November 9 this was the second inspection and test drive. They are talking about blue book value, I do not check blue book value, I advertise on based on market demand. In Colorado a 2002 Ford escape v6 with timing chain and 4wheel drive, Subaru 4wheel drive and Toyota 4Runner 4 wheel drive will sell above and beyond blue book value. These buyer whom are truly believe are good people, they never mentioned the fact that this 2002 Ford escape did not have any engine, transmission problem, they never mentioned the fact of New tires , new oil change, new emissions test, excellent body and interior for a 14 years old vehicle. I did drive this Ford escape from auction to my place of business and this was an hour drive, I did drive it on I25 several times, I did take it for emissions test and at no time or point I experienced or noticed any radiator leak and  breaks issues. If any vehicle has radiator leak, anyone sitting in the vehicle will smell anti-freeze, no one can avoid that , if I am driving any vehicle, or any one else driving a vehicle, it will be very simple to notice first break issues, Breaks if bad, they will scream and squeeze and at no point or time while driving this Ford Escape, I did not nor did the buyers noticed any break issues. Two days after the purchase the buyer complained about rare defrost. I did not check the rare defrost because the weather was unusually warm and if indeed there was issues with rare defrost, I did spend more than two hours helping the buyer by text on how to fix it and even text him a video. When someone takes a 14 years old vehicle to a mechanics, mechanics always , always give the customer a list, an hones mechanics would have to the buyer that listen, this is a used vehicle, overall is above average condition, it would be nice to install new break pads, new struts etc. The buyers talk about being generous for their offer, the buyers where good people but not generous at all. You will not give an offer of $3300 for a $3850 asking price and this is $550 savings. In addition, buyers had the option of taking this Ford escape to a mechanic of their choice or could bring a mechanic along. In Colorado vehicles are sold "AS IS".     thanks
