Response:

Initial Business Response

Thank you for contacting Sacramento Credit Union regarding the above referenced complaint.

President/CEO [redacted] has referred this matter to me, as I am the Vice President bearing

responsibility for the collection function of the credit union.

Your correspondence to Mr. [redacted] indicates that any response will be publicly posted on the

Revdex.com website. Therefore, the information I may provide is limited in the

interest of protecting member privacy. I can advise that the credit union has investigated this

matter and determined that the account is being correctly reported to the credit bureau. The

credit union provided to Experian Credit Bureau a validation of debt letter and supporting

documentation.

The credit union has no record of receiving any paper work or a certified letter from Mr. [redacted].

We have attempted previously to contact Mr. [redacted] by telephone. Both the credit union and the

credit union's legal counsel have sent letters to him. Since the address on the complaint letter

differs from the address on record at Sacramento Credit Union, I have requested our attorney to

forward copies of prior correspondence and validation of the debt to Mr. [redacted] at the address used in the complaint letter. I trust the correspondence he receives will answer his questions.

Should Mr. [redacted] have questions after receiving copies of the documents, he may contact

directly our attorney.

Final Consumer Response

(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)

Never gotten any proof

Final Business Response

In my response dated December 3, 2013, I stated that Mr. [redacted] would receive copies of

correspondence and validation of the debt from Sacramento Credit Union's legal counsel. On

December 4, 2013, legal counsel mailed the aforementioned documentation to Mr. [redacted] at the

address reflected on his Revdex.com complaint. My December 3rd correspondence

also stated that Mr. [redacted] could contact directly the credit union's attorney should he have

questions after receiving copies of the documents.

The telephone number and address of Sacramento Credit Union's legal counsel is reflected on

the correspondence counsel sent to Mr. [redacted]. Mr. [redacted] may contact counsel to discuss this

matter.

Review: My story centers around a banking error on my part, which I take full responsibility for, and in attempting to correct my error, Sacramento Credit Union decided it was a great opportunity to hit me with more (unwarranted) fees. A little back story: I opened an account at a different local credit union due to some other concerns I had regarding Sacramento Credit Union. Now, I am very tech savvy and pay almost all my bills using a third party bill pay service. I had to write a rare check last week to a service technician who was visiting my house, and I grabbed the old checkbook instead of the new one (again my fault!) I then received a NFS fee for the bad check of $24, again my fault. In an attempt to make the account right and get rid of the negative balance, I transferred a small amount from my new bank into this account. Somehow, in the process, they thought I needed to be charged another $24 fee. I am not sure how or why, but me trying to be a good person and make good on a debt caused this fee, which then they not only refused to reverse, but were rude in the process. I would like the SECOND fee reversed. I fully intend to pay the first fee as it was my fault. Thank you!Desired Settlement: I would like a refund of what I consider to be a fraudulent charge. The initial $24.00 overdraft I take full responsibility for and am happy to pay. This SECOND FEE is outrageous and I would like it refunded to me in the form of a check mailed to my home, I have no desire to return to this bank in any capacity.

Review: I am emailing as a concerned citizen. We had a bank account with the Sacramento Credit Union on Bradshaw. We had our paychecks being directly deposited to our account. Due to unfortunate financial circumstances from the downfall of the economy our account was levied and most of our funds were sent out. These funds were our only savings and this left us in dire financial circumstances. We have a son to feed and house. I believe that this bank charged us overdraft fees of approximately $150 without regard to or consideration of the hardship they are placing on our family and to profit from our misfortune. I went into the bank begging for the funds or a portion of the fees to be credited back to our account. I was told that a supervisor would call me later in the afternoon but that most likely I would be told no because we had had fees credited previously. No one ever called me. I went into the bank today and again begged for help. I was again told that someone would call me. I got a call and was informed that the bank would not credit back any of the fees. Why is this bank charging members $24 per transaction in overdraft fees??? Why are they debiting my account when I have no money available and paying for transactions causing our account to be negative and charged excess fees? $24 charge for a $4.11 purchase!!!!!

This should not have happened. According to the Statutory definition of credit union (FC 14002)

<[redacted]>

A Credit Union is a cooperative, organized for the purposes of promoting thrift and savings among its members creating a source of credit for them at rates of interest set by the board of directors, and providing an opportunity for them to use and control their own money on a democratic basis in order to improve their economic and social conditions.

As a cooperative, a credit union conducts its business for the mutual benefit and general welfare of its members with the earnings, savings, benefits, or services of the credit union being distributed to its members as patrons.

Your bank has not conducted it business for the mutual benefit and general welfare of its members but would rather try to profit from a member's misfortune. We did not intentionally cause our account to become overdrawn but rather your bank by paying transactions with money that was not available and then charging outrageous fees. This is a practice that should be illegal. There are other ways to bring in revenue like charging a monthly fee for an account.Desired Settlement: I am requesting that I be reimbursed at least a portion of the fees as we have been treated with total lack of caring or human kindness.
