Sacramento Jaguar & Saab Reviews (2)

Review: On July 13, 2014, while driving on Interstate-80 Eastbound near the construction area, a rock hit the windshield of our automobile, a 1995 Jaguar XJ6, resulting in a large hole, continue in a line crack. Since the purchase of the car in 1995, we have always had Sacramento Jaguar service and maintain the car. On July 14, after discussing the incident with our [redacted] insurance again, my husband [redacted], called Sacramento Jaguar Service department and spoke to [redacted], the service manager, about the damage to the windshield. We were both unsure if we would be able to get the same quality windshield at other glass establishments. [redacted] assured us that we would not, because most of the autoglass companies used glass that are made in China. [redacted], without hesitation said they would be happy to take care of it, and he would find out if the same glass for the same year and model car was in stock. Shortly thereafter, he called [redacted] back and said it was in stock, and that it would cost about $1100.00. We took the car to the shop to replace the windshield, because the [redacted] agent said we could take it anywhere we wanted to. We trusted Sacramento Jaguar with the car. Although it was almost 19 years old, it was well maintained and had only 42,360 miles registered. We also had it serviced while it was there. We paid the invoice and sent a copy to [redacted] for reimbursement for the windshield (minus the $50.00 deductible). The adjuster from [redacted] called [redacted] and he was very indignant. He said there was no way [redacted] will pay the amount Sacramento Jaguar charged for the windshield. The glass and windshield cost should have been around $340.00 for the exact original glass. [redacted] sent us a check for $316.73. We did not know Sacramento Jaguar was going to subcontract the windshield replace to another glass company and marked up the price of the work nearly triple the cost. We called the glass company directly and was told that the type of glass for that model was $295.00 installed. We called Sacramento Jaguar to question why this was done. We were led to believe that they were going to do the work at their facility, at the realistic price of glass plus installation. We believed they should have told us another party was going to replace the windshield, and if they did, they had no reason to mark up the price for a profit. We are loyal customers. [redacted] said the cost was correct, so did the service manager. They were not willing to listen to us. The general manager of Sacramento Jaguar called [redacted] back and told him We are done on the matter. It is our belief that we were ripped off by almost triple the cost of the windshield and they should reimburse the difference from the $316.73 that [redacted] allowed us. (less our deductible).Desired Settlement: Sacramento Jaguar charged a total of $981.51. We received a check from [redacted] for $316.73 plus we paid a $50.00 deductible for a total of $366.73. We are seeking a refund of $614.78 the difference of what Sacramento Jaguar charged minus my deductible and [redacted] payment. $981.51-$366.73= $614.78

Response:

I called Mr. [redacted] regarding his complaint about everything he was unhappy with. I informed him that we did indeed purchase a factory glass windshield, per his request and that my service advisor promptly made every effort to get his windshield problem resolved in a professional and efficient manner. we have an invoice to prove he got what he requested. We also informed him that we do not install glass, but do send it out to glass companies. The total cost on the repair order estimate would include any charge they would have for install. Mr. [redacted] is not willing to accept that he is comparing two very different products for the same car, one much inferior to the other, but nonetheless compliant with all safety laws. He paid for a O.E.M Factory windshield and the retail price for the glass is $768.51, as stated on the repair order. When he called the Windshield company that installed the windshield, they quoted him a price of $295 which was for a non factory less quality windshield, which he had no desire to buy. At this point, Mr. [redacted] is blaming us for merely doing what he asked us to do. He himself had admitted to me that his insurance company was indignant and not willing to pay for a factory glass. Had we known that we would have certainly made Mr. [redacted] aware, before going ahead and doing what he requested us to do.

I do not believe we have done anything wrong and also feel very strongly that we have done everything possible to explain this to Mr. [redacted] and even prepared to show him cost receipts etc, but he essentially told me that I would "Probably make fake ones and get the company to lie" I reassured him that this is not something we ever do and would be willing to provide him documented copies.

At this point, Mr. [redacted] is looking to have us reimburse him because his own insurance company is unwilling to pay for the higher quality glass and the glass company he called quoted him a price for non factory windshield.

Response:

I am rejecting this response because: We feel that Sacramento Jaguar was misleading.

In response to Sacramento Jaguar’s message, he did in fact

speak to Mr. [redacted], but that is the only fact.

The Service Advisor told him that he would check if the

windshield was in stock; and, if it was to bring the car in on Wednesday, July

14, 2014. He called back to advise us

that the windshield was in stock.

Since Sacramento Jaguar doesn’t install windshields, we

should have been told that, and as long-term customers, we should have been

told to take the car to All-Star Glass instead of Sacramento Jaguar.

Sacramento Jaguar acted as a middle agent so that they can

make a profit from an unfortunate incident.

We have checked with at least three other auto glass companies, over-the-phone/online,

for the very same glass, and the cost was nowhere near the charges of

$948.00. All three companies quote, $580.00 to $600.00

installed for the same factory-Jaguar windshield [redacted] and $295.00 for the

lower quality windshield.

Obviously, we are not going to get anywhere with Sacramento

Jaguar. It’s not the issue of money;

rather, it is about the dishonest business practices. How many other customers before us have

experienced this practice performed by Sacramento Jaguar?

We are pleased to put this complaint on record.

There are many great dealerships with helpful people that sell and service good cars.
Then there's Niello Jaguar in Sacramento, California. It is truly an excellent culture of people who create this great dealership! When it comes to selling a quality product, ensuring that the buyer is pleased with the sale & the car and exceeding customer expectations, at Niello Jaguar these things are second nature.
They have acted in the most professional and respectful and bend over backward way to keep me happy, even after the sale, even though I live 2100 miles away. Even here in Chicago, they made repairs to my vehicle they thought should have been fixed before I bought it.
I looked all over the country for an '05-'08 Super V8. I had cars inspected in four states. None showed better in pictures and eventually in person than the car I found in Sacramento. It was certainly the farthest destination. After comparing 40+ Super V8 and Vanden Plas models, I decided to go to Sacramento and check out the one they had in inventory with the full intention of buying it and driving it back to Chicago. They repaired several major items before I ever saw the car. After we inked the deal their General Manager, Richard Farler, had the heater core replaced. It took all day but he didn't charge me. He arranged for transportation for me at his cost. Now back in Chicago, we identify a suspension is#10sue. He's fixing that for me too. These were the final over the top steps Niello Jaguar did for me.
Before the purchase there's the work of my Sales Consultant, [redacted]. He is a great listener, professional in his manner, enthusiastic with his clients at all times, and responsible above and beyond he even came in on his days off to help me with the purchase logistics. I asked for well over 60 additional photos of the car and [redacted] took all of them. He arranged for many special items with my car before I arrived from cleaning to polishing the wheels to buffing the entire car. At one point he was taking care of small cleaning details just to make the car spotless for me. I don't think he ever received a commission on my purchase due to the negative gross on the car.
Finally, at the heart of any service company is its dedicated employees. [redacted], Used Car Manager and [redacted], Sales Manager both were instrumental in working on details before I arrived that kept my stay in Sacramento to a minimum, they helped me ship my own car back to Chicago and expedited the paperwork.
[redacted], the man of the year to me, fixed so many things on my car. He really made my purchase possible. I would have walked away if that car didn't run so well and would have kicked myself if it fell apart after I bought it.
[redacted] and [redacted] made the finance portion and paperwork before, during and after happen seamlessly and flawlessly.
And while I was waiting for two days while [redacted] did repairs in the back, [redacted] in service, [redacted] in sales and [redacted] in the office kept me company and made me feel like a part of the Niello family.
There are many times I want to write a bad review about some service, not many times when I feel like writing a good one. With Niello Jaguar's "out of the park" service and dealership culture I don't see how I could not write a true review of my experience.
Thank you all.
